gf202020 was wrong; STF is based off of Fighting Vipers' engine, which is a heavier tweak on the VF formula. That said, in FV, one could see Sonic and Tails playable by hacking the game, even Takashi Iizuka was supposedly playable himself.

Honey The Cat is based off of Honey from FV, sharing most of her moves. However, she did not make the cut and thus you can only find her in STC while screwing around with cheat devices.

To go Super Sonic, you have to win all fights including the first round against Metal Sonic without getting beaten, then go Hyper Mode (that state when you look like you have the invincibility power up from the older games). If you've lost any fights or ran out of barriers to go Hyper Mode, you can't turn Super Sonic. Also, it can't be done on easy...
