@edw125238 I've got a 535i and I love it. But don't knock benz's, if you owned one you would understand.

I also have a 1993 MBZ 300e (w124 chassis).

The 535i is much newer, faster, handles better, etc etc.

But my the W124 MBZ is an awesome car to drive. You wont find a bad review about that car, if you drive it, you love it.

On the other hand I can find plenty of complaints about 535i's.

I own a 1997 BMW 535i but the thing is your both running a 3.5lt engine but hes got a V8 plus controlled injection. i dont understand how a 335i can beat a 535i. Correct me if im mistaken?

bmw 535i is basically the exact same thing as a 335i in terms of hp (they are both twin turbos). it come down to hp/ lb, and the 5 series is heavier.

i would personally get a 535i because its bigger and more luxury and less sporty.

Usually, when a manufacturer like BMW make 2 different cars, where 1 is, as you said, 15% heavier than the other, they boost that engine a little bit.

Now, I haven't come across a 535 that's petrol (Do they only come with diesel?)

And the 335 is the same, just flip it.

So when you mention it, I do believe that the 335 is faster.

However, the 535 has more NM to be satisfied with :P

Well, I'd take the 535i. I can understand why you'd want the 335i, it is lighter and faster. But I can't ignore the looks of the 535i, and with a Dinan chip, better performance than a 550i V8. But chipped 335is can be total beasts. Either way, you can't go wrong!

He's right the 535i weighs 3660 lbs with a manual gearbox. The 335i coupe weighs 3570 lbs with the sedan being a bit heavier. A auto 335i is definitely slower than a manual 535i.

A sorry, just saw that BMW has quite some strange engine configurations in US for the 5 series. In germany the 535i doesn't exist since the last model year update, but 520i/523i/525i/530i/540i/550i.
