  • A year ago I commented on this video saying I liked it a lot, well I like it even more! I did get a Hammond Elegante last June for $150 in mint looking & playing condition. It's the leg model, but who cares:)! I have lots of organs, but this is my 2nd Hammond (have S6 too). Since I have organs from every era I prefer the 60's since they speak more boldly, yet maintain warmth. The 81' Elegante held to this standard were other companies moved toward somewhat synthetic voicing, but tube amps help.

  • This is beyond belief. I could listen to your style all night. It is the best tone of organ I have ever heard.

Good luck for the future from the UK.

  • Man can you do a song justice! This is going on my favorites. Your playing makes me want to think about getting another Hammond ( my little Hammond S6 chord organ doesn't count).

  • This organ took the place of the Hammond Concord 2307 back then as it cost about $12,000.00 I liked it, even though it was only analog and not digital. It would had been nice if Hammond Organ Company would had keep the Arpeggiator feature on this organ?

  • @patsaxon I think the fancy fingers or whatever they call it on the Elegante ( red & yellow buttons above lower keys) is a crappy addition, rather see an arpeggiator strip there. At least with an arpeggiator strip it's a 'note for note' wiring of the keys to the contacts on the rollers. I really like how Thomas did it on my Californian 263- on ''Glissando'' it plays every note from left to right on the upper manual. On ''Arpeggiate'' hold any chord & from left to right it plays every octave:-)

  • Rainy Day is one of my favorite songs. You do it justice. Love your style. Instant arrangements? That's amazing.

    Thanks

  • I'd love to see some videos of your playing, especially a few instructional ones in which you demonstrate (slowly) how you achieve some of those characteristic stylings in the melody lines (not sure of the terminology; a pianist would call them "ornaments"). I'm half your age, so this sort of music was already fading in popularity by the time I was old enough to discover it. I'd ask to take lessons from you if I were local...

  • @cc213t Thank you for your comments. I do try to keep my stylings interesting. All of what you hear is my own arrangements. I do what I call instant arranging as I play. I do include versions of other organists styles that I've enjoyed listening to. Lenny Dee, Eddie Layton, and Buddy Cole to name a few. I am working on a video upload. As soon as I get all of the details worked out, I'll get it uploaded. It will be a view of my keyboard work.

  • I always come back to this. It is just beautiful. Is it your own arrangement? Sure do wish I could play 1/8 as well as you do.

  • Thanks for your interest in this style of music. I trully enjoy playing songs like these two. Yes, these are examples of what I call my instant arrangements. All music I play are of my own arrangements. I'm working on some others that I will be uploading soon. Hope you'll like them as well.

  • Hi Bob,

love listening to the old tunes, nobody writes like that anymore.Tough finding good music to listen too.I play your stuff over and over.Wish I had a cd hint hint LOL I was wondering if you might take a request? I think Butterflies in the rain would sound wonderful! 1930's it can be found here on youtube. If not its ok. I'll just keep listening to what you send out. James

  • I sure love your stylke thanks for writing back You are terrific

  • EXCELLENT !!! You have a wonderful mellow style, good to hear this great music again. .Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you for your comments. I try not to clutter up my music with a lot of "extra stuff" that takes away from the original intended theme of the song. I truly enjoy playing, and I love these older songs. I hope to add to my music in the future.

    Bob

  • Great songs well played. I love them

    Thanks

    Mark

  • Sweet. I love your mellow style.

  • Thanks for listeneing and your comment. I'm glad to see that there are still listeners that appreciate this style of keyboard playing.

    Bob

  • Elegant and understated--like a Brooks Bros. suit. If you've got it, you don't need to flaunt it. I do so wish we would return to this level of musical understanding. It is poetry on top of music. Do you have any albums? BTW, I'm "only" 47. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Thank you again for your comments. I trully enjoy playing. I'm sorry, but no more CD's or tapes. Thats why I'm now putting my music style on this web site. I'm currently working on some more songs to add to the others. Might even try a video on the next ones. Still working out the camera position on the keyboards.

  • Hi fellow "Hams", yes I too am a ham operator. My QTH is Central Illinois. Thanks for the comments on my songs. Been a little busy lately serving as a crew member on the WW II LST 325. Thats why I haven't been able to answer you back, or put anymore songs on this web page. Hopefully I'll have more time, now that our yearly fund raising tour is coming to an end. The piano I'm using is the Roland Phantom 8X. I truly like the sound of the concert grand.

    73, Bob

  • I love the Elegante sound ... I wonder if the new Hammond Suzuki Elegate sounds as good! Is the Piano in this song the Piano on the Elegante? If it is, it is much better than my Conn 653.

  • VERY, VERY, Slick....Had To Play It Twice

To See Where The Change WAS!!!

  • Here's That Rainy Day is one of my all time favorites and now I've found my favorite version. In a word SUPERB!

  • Nice Soothing music. I do notice that the organ is starting to dissappear from the market. Seems like the new generation are adapting to synthesizer keyboards instead of the one man band organ.

  • Awesome, loved it! Theres no sound like a Hammond. More Please.

  • Hi Dad!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason, I cant get the player to play the song...GRRRRRR!

Love the music as always!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dawn

  • Nice and mellow! Beautiful job. By the way what are the ballads?

  • Maybe some wouldn't call these ballads, but I do. Here is why I do - this is the defination from Wikipedia:

"In the 20th Century, 'ballad' took on the meaning of a popular song "especially of a romantic or sentimental nature"

I do enjoy playing this style of song. I can sit for hours and play (for my own enjoyment) these types. I'm sure others would not enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks for your comments, and for listening.

  • For those who don't know these two song titles, they are "Here's That Rainy Day", & "Foggy Day In London Town".
