Being a Michigander who works in the automotive industry in a factory I can really relate to this song. I personally feel that this is Bob's best song ever. He really hit the nail on the head with this one. I don't know if Bob ever worked in an automotive factory or other type of factory but he really knows what he's talking about. But this song includes everybody who's ever felt like a number. Bob Seger has been the voice of the working man and woman for a long time.

I grew up listening Bob Seger, and swore when i was in high school if he ever toured again i would sell my truck if i had to for tickets. Sleepytime gorilla museum is way out there but they do invent their own instruments, and are undoubtedly talented musicians. the lyrics are misanthropic but well articulated. Sure rock and roll isn't what it used to be. But plenty of musicians out there maintain integrity and innovate.
Seger is anything but 'corporate asslicker'. Anyone who was around when he was recording hits in the 70s and 80s knows that. And on a separate note, The Silver Bullet Band is one of the most talented group of musicians in the history of Rock... plain and simple. This is one song I had forgotten about.

I've always liked Seger. I've just spent quite a bit of time watching some Seger vids. I'm 35 and almost nearly forgot the insane amount of kick-ass songs the man has put out throughout his career.
Bob Seger is from the Detroit, MI. area, so for him to sell a song for GM to use in order to help GM sell trucks is a good thing as far as I'd be concerned.

Here in Michigan we stand behind our own, we stand behind our auto compaines, auto workers, and our singers. I grew up listening Bob Seger, and swore when i was in high school if he ever toured again i would sell my truck if i had to for tickets. I was in college before he toured in 96 and i went to two of the shows at the palase and i saw him again in 2008 at the palace and will see him again if he tours again!

Talk about never forgetting that....lol
Although my brother is 12 years older than me I grew up listening him through my brother....Oh and I'm from Michigan! =)

@son8of8vazkor - i don't really know what your taste is. Secret Chiefs 3 is one of my favorite bands. Estradasphere is another. Sleepytime gorilla museum is way out there but they do invent their own instruments, and are undoubtedly talented musicians. the lyrics are misanthropic but well articulated. Sure rock and roll isn't what it used to be. But plenty of musicians out there maintain integrity and innovate.

Seger is anything but 'corporate asslicker'. Anyone who was around when he was recording hits in the 70s and 80s knows that. And on a separate note, The Silver Bullet Band is one of the most talented group of musicians in the history of Rock... plain and simple. This is one song I had forgotten about.

your an idiot of epic proportions if you think there isn't any good music anymore. Truth be told most people don't take the time to find it, likely because they're either living in the past, or too fucking lazy to get out and find it. The oldies are great, but music has changed, music will always change, and if you can't adapt, then get in a fucking time machine and get the fuck out. sorry for cursing, but its at least tactful. quit looking to tv or radio for good new bands.

Reading through past comments.....I don't see how Seger is a "corporate asslicker", when it took him years to even get a record deal, and today he is touring again because his kids are old enough to know whats going on. Being from Michigan, everyone I know is a Seger fan. Its not about race, politics, or corporate America. It is about great music from a great musician.

Having listened to Seger all my life, I've considered him one who wrote his music for the "working class," and this song is just one example.
The first time I heard "Ramblin Man," I was a fan.
Seger had to work his ass off to get his music out there and all of Michigan should be proud.
He started back when a great seat cost $3.50.
He doesn't need new music. He's earned the right to charge any amount he chooses so we can give back to him.
