  • This video was made to show how skilled he is

  • Chitown for life

  • Thumbs Up if you Liked the video before it started.

  • HIP-HOP LIVES!

  • the opening lines of the last verse..i just shook my head in awe at the word play. "And I'm brainless, which means I'm headless,Like Ichabod Crane is..Or foreplay-less sex is, which makes me saneless..With no neck left to hang the chain with..Which makes me necklace-less, like a necklace theft..And I ain't used my head rest yet.." rappers cant wear their big ass chains if they aint got necks..Neckless/Necklace as in chains..

#mindfucked. and jizz all over my brain.

  • @freshprince58 he was pure genius on this track

  • pause at 1:14

  • Lupe is a real mc.

  • Music is supposed to be good for the soul, so stfu you down syndrome mofos, put your complaints on fb where they belong.

  • did anyone notice that he doesn't even show the girl dancing on the pole he just shows the shadow, because he didnt want to actually show a half naked girl, rather just wanted to symbolize it. thats some serious respect for women...very rare in rap

  • @91humza actually, it's to symbolize how many rappers talk about things they don't have. Good eye, though.

  • @91humza i agree

  • To me, this sounds like incredible spoken word poetry more than hip ho[

  • "..i flatly refuse, i aint dumb down nothin' "

march 4, 2011: release of lasers

  • @ramafia09 Yeah but people who truly like Lupe after Lasers will go back to his older stuff like this, like me.

  • @11xChelsea exactly. that's why we are all here

  • @ramafia09 Yee thas why we all here

  • @ramafia09 OK im sick and tired of seeing all these comments saying that Lupe sold out and that he did dumb it down,,, HE DID NOT DUMB DOWN ANYTHING HE STILL HAS THE SAME MSG IN HIS MUSIC JUST A DIFFERENT BEAT! GET THE FUCK OVER IT!LISTEN TO "words i never said" from LASERS! and "the show goes on" and listen to the LYRICS and don't just pay attention to the beat,

  • @LethalxLee it was definitely not the beat dude. you obviously don't know why lupe is good. i love electronic music. also if you listen to his new mixtape that was the same types of beats too and that was leaps and bounds above lasers. words i never said was alright. the only really good song was all black everything, but other than that lasers was a let down. listen to failure and then tell me any one of the songs on lasers stands up to it.

  • @ramafia09 you guys are seriously fighting over why Lupe is good? He's good because he's good. Problem solved.

  • @LethalxLee exactly

  • Ron Paul 2012!!!! Lets go, get him in!!!

  • Lupe for the sake of hip hop, don't ever dumb down your music.

    Sincerely,

A teenager that would rather listen to rappers like you, nas and rakim than rappers like lil wayne, wiz khalifa and drake.

  • this guy is what we need

  • why should ppl dislike this vid?? SMH...

  • He's one of the greatest rappers out here, we need more artist that's going to talk about something positive and make us think..the old rappers and Hip Hop artist used to, there more concern about money, cars and women now..smh..

  • Comment removed

  • i dont think anyone reallizes how much he put into his hand movements throughout this video.

  • The only word to explain this song is...Insane.

  • i got to say the best rapers in the world are lupe and common are thumbs up if you agree and im trying to be the top comment im just trying to make a point

  • you see when he said bitch she just denied his ass thats the type of women i like

  • Rap genius, i'm on my way.....

  • wat a lyric

  • i see lupe likes women under 10s.

  • @TheSuirad Wtf kind of dumb comment is that? Your ten ain't his ten.

  • @fmcneillii ...so...

  • plz dont dumb it down for these illiterate azz negros lol

  • Really ppl? Politics? can get a fuckin break

  • I completely respect black people, I even called mine Toby.

  • @AdamShifnal BWAHAHAHAHAH

  • most school with no money title of song is I rest my case!:(

  • Honestly, I really hate to say this but I really fear someone is going to attempt on his life. He's amazing. He points out all the things that no one wants to think about. He's the first rapper to take my words away while he uses his own, since Tupac and Biggie. Sure Tupac and Biggie are said to be killed from either gang or the gov't...who knows...but what I do know is a LOT of people are becoming uncomfortable because he puts others in the spotlight...those who should actually be examined.

  • Am i the only one who checks my fb everytime at 0:48?

  • lol i needed this dumbed down! thank god for rapgenius

  • Look at the models in this video- they're posing with books, a globe, and a diploma. They're not half-naked or covered in champagne, but they're still beautiful. How many artists other than Lupe do you see making videos like this?

    ......That's what I thought.

  • @Pipebombdreams Search up Keep Shining by Shad. The music's out there. You're just not looking.

  • @Pipebombdreams damn right, and boy are they beautiful. hah

  • i can listen to this one hundred times and it still feels fresh cause it speaks the truth

  • 706 people didn't dumb it down

  • i like lupe's music but i swear he be giving me a headache sometimes with those metaphores lol

  • I learn more by listening to lupe than going by to class

  • @Eki1023 worst thing about your comment: its true.

  • @Eki1023 lol then you need to hit the books harder

  • Whoa...this guy is just amazing with words.

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 Please refrain yourself from posting your political views on youtube. Or at least on music video pages where it is irrelevant and uneeded. Kay thanks.

  • @MissTarynRae I have the right to freedom of speech on the internet. Sorry if you do not like it but I will continue to do so until Obama passes the SOPA bill which will allow the government to censor things that they don't want you to see like Lupe Fiasco's music videos because they express the truth.

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 Look no one is questioning your rights here. I was simply addressing the fact that until your replied to my comment your political statement had nothing to do with the video and that it would be suited better for another video. Not a music video.

  • @MissTarynRae Didn't mean to offend ya. Just trying to get the word out so everyone can make the best decision for this country because the media doesn't cover shit!

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 I actually agree with most of what youre saying it was just the location that was a little annoying. But no worries no offense taken. And sorry if I came off harsh to begin with. :-)

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 Well sir it is quite refreshing indeed to see someone who knows about how crooked the Federal Reserve is, and our political system in general really. Keep up the good fight, you are not alone.

  • @Suiter420 Thanks. We need everyone to start posting Ron Paul 2012 on videos because people actually listen and some people call me stupid. I debate and try to persuade them to wake up and it has worked for me a couple of times.

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 You do have freedom of speech, but please be mindful of the people who honestly could give a crap, or just want watch the video, or both. Plus, do kno that your asking people to vote for a person, on the video of a rapper who doesn't even vote?

  • @HueyEscobar56 I am aware of that I presented the facts. I never just said vote for this. I gave reason on my decision and am trying to persuade everyone to vote for him because WW3 is upon us. Ron Paul 2012.

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 dude your so mislead here some the facts ( i have to break it cause it was to long Don't be fooled...Debt relative to GDP rose due to recessions and policy decisions in the early 21st century. From 2000 to 2008 debt held by the public rose from 35% to 40%, and to 62% by the end of fiscal year 2010. During the presidency of George W. Bush, the gross public debt increased from $5.7 trillion in

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 January 2001 to $10.7 trillion by December 2008, due in part to the Bush tax cuts and in...creased military spending caused by the wars in the Middle East. Under President Barack Obama, the debt increased from $10.7 trillion in 2008 to $14.2 trillion by February 2011, caused mainly by decreased tax revenue due to the late-2000s recession. This country was in terrible fiscal shape prior to Inaguration Day 2009!!!!

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 DEFINATELY

  • Comment removed

  • @KillTheIlluminati24 If you want to be able our countrys youth to be able to go

to college without being crazy rich, then dont vote for Ron Paul.

It'll create an unofficial caste system in our country where the only

people that can succeed are people that are born rich, not the type

of rules that our country was based on. Hes definetly not for the people,

he's for abolishing government programs FOR the people, like student loans.

  • @MrAmphony24 Would you rather be in a FEMA camp under Obamas rule? Or would you rather be at war with Iran also under Obama's rule or any other candidate other than Ron Paul!

  • @MrAmphony24 I'm sorry but I already see that happening and the news and other candidates hate Mr. Paul, so I think there is another source to this issue.

  • @BlazedBastar666 Word man I saw some debate where they had Ron paul listed as "some other guy" with a black siloet for a picture. I mean they are just blatetantly trashing Ron and trying to keep his name from being known as much as they can. That clearely tells me something. The media and the higher ups are scared of this man , and they know he wont be a good boy and play ball like the rest. Ron Paul FTW!

  • i like the matrix reference

  • @ciaschi18 Don't believe his lies.

  • @manolo19991 What lies are those? You must have no free thought. You hear something enough you believe it.

  • @IrishGypsyCurse Isn't that what everybody on this planet does? Everything a person believes HAS to come from something that they heard at one point or another in their life.

  • @manolo19991 In a sense yes. I mean things like Iran wants to kill you and your children because they hate freedom. People believe that but it is not true. The only reason they believe that is because they have heard it over and over and never thought about it critically. Which is the same with about 90% of the human population. So nice try to be smart. Fail.

  • @IrishGypsyCurse I understood you when you said "You hear something enough you believe it", you didn't need to go on and list an example. What I was trying to imply was that everybody is entitled to their own opinion and belief. People will always disagree with each other when it comes to religion, war, economy, immigration, political party, etc. Which is why I enjoy math and science over controversial topics, because unlike religion and politics, you can actually come to an agreement.

  • @ciaschi18 YESS!!!!

  • would someone like to dumb this down for me?

  • @shlongtoss rapgenius dumbed it down for me and I still had to research some stuff lol

  • @shlongtoss rapgenius (dot) com

  • I Accidentaly Thought The Song Was 'THUMB IT DOWN' When Its Called 'DUMB IT DOWN' Lol I Put Thumbs Down !

  • one of the realest songs i ever heard

  • Lupe Fiasco And Immortal Technique Should Make A Song together Thumbs Up if u agree

  • @gabzafrica And Lowkey. If you like lupe and immortal You will enjoy listening to Lowkey. He already did couple songs with immortal technique

  • I see so much hate on Lupe's new stuff. He never changed his lyricism, he just had new beats.

And that if something goes mainstream, people hate it.

    I don't care. I'll always be a Lupe fan.

  • Funny thing, Lupe actually dumbed it down with his new mainstream stuff.

  • @kiko209 to be honest, he hasn't really dumbed anything down, his new songs have the same intellectual properties, they're just harder to spot.

If anything, you have to think harder

  • @jessdaman08 i agree except for words i never said...which i think he wanted to make obvious for mainstream to see how he felt..love that song and video btw

  • really, you dont get it? this songs just lupe saying his never gonna dumb his music down you completely missed the point

  • He doesnt care if he loses records because he doesnt "Dumb it down"

It's his style and he knows that. He knows he will be supported by his true fans and not those randoms that just keep slapin the newest raps that come out erry day

  • 0:00

  • fucking niggers

  • the cool lupe's best album in my opinion

  • Too bad the black youth of today will never understand this song. Lupe is pretty much stating how our generation thrives on stupidity and ignorance. Not to mention today's hip hop is the only culture that prides itself in being primitive and awards men for being dumb. No wonder why my generation is known as the anti-intellectuals. Hopefully my people will wake up one day.

  • @GoodBlackMusic Hip hop is made by artists. Rap is made by puppets. Hip hop is as good as its ever been, people are just too lazy to turn off the TV and look for it. Take a look at past, present, future by k-rino or lunar deluge by Canibus. Today's hip hop (not rap) is the peak of our society.

  • @CaptainTrechabomb

I disagree. The problem is Rap has a chokehold over Hip Hop. And it has pretty much since the 90s. Hell I remember a few years ago BET in all its ministrel show glory had a hip hop appreciation show. None of the young crowd knew who grandmaster flash was lol. Hip Hop will always be in the shadow of Rap as long as shit rappers and corporate thieves exist.

  • @GoodBlackMusic Well yeah, down with the evil empire that slanders the name of hip hop. I could talk all day about how shitty the industry is, look at my channel its pretty much all I listen to and rap about. I'm just saying that a lot of great hip hop exists, people just don't know about it. No matter what my friends' music preferences are I can always find an underground artist that will blow their mind. Too many people just accept whatever bullshit MTV and BET throws at them.

  • @GoodBlackMusic You want to take down BET then I wish you luck and hope you succeed. I just find it more suitable to try to convince people that there's more to life than the false realities created for them by the media.

  • @CaptainTrechabomb

    Continuued...

I mean damn look at how corporation tried to shut down Lupe Fiasco. It's sad man.

  • Lupe is the best!

  • Comment removed

  • What ever happened to this ass clown? this was his only good song.

  • @Caineheist His only good song.....Come on man...Just...Come on..

  • @adjgjgj2 Seriously?? hahaa did you sleep through Food & Liquor Dope CD #listen

  • @Caineheist That's sad. Maybe it cuz of the things he's talking about.

  • remember when his first 2 albums were steady in the 100's of thousdand mark...all the buzz from lasers is at least touching ALL of lupe's work....glad he gets some recognition! great music....chek the group "INRG - TAKE A PICTURE" for some more classy vibes

  • @HarlemSplash and wale

  • @Alpha0803 no

  • @icecru2 why

  • i still have food & liquor...

  • he hits the nail on the head with this song! and we wonder why all these kids love tyler the creator and wiz khalifa like come on now dude get some taste in music! take the time to listen to the lyrics not just the fucking beat!

  • Ichabod Crane wasn't headless. That was a disappointing line.

  • @CodyIzAplayer "Pimps C the wings on the Underground King. Who's also Klingon." The phrase doesn't have to be exact for the message to be purveyed. Look past the surface and understand what the man is saying, it's never been a stretch to follow Lupe's wordplay.

  • @CodyIzAplayer Well the line after that was "or foreplayless sex is"...headless? get it? Maybe you're too young....

  • @CodyIzAplayer after ichabod crane passed the bridge he was beheaded.....

  • @trollingbiznach No, he wasn't. If you actually know anything about the story, you know the fate of Ichabod Crane was never actually told in the story. In fact, it was heavily hinted that he ran away, and was not murdered.

  • @CodyIzAplayer in the original version (not the one manipulated by society) ichabod is beheaded

  • thank god for rapgenius.

  • @dadrit ikr, i just spent the last 40 minutes understanding this song by looking through explanations

  • Dumb it Down > Master P's career

  • This is gonna make me look bad but did anyone else find this beat spooky? First time I heard it was I little scared

  • Great lyrics and all,but this sounds really bad.. the live version of this sounds way better

  • 1-11 T-shirt оf man in the middle : СМЕРТЬ ЛЯГАВЫМ ! COP DEATH!
