Nothing about the audio, the PAL version, the hints in the instruction manual, or the graphics, you briefly talked about gameplay, and you're bitching about the difficulty level. Well guess what? It's a Sunsoft game. It's their signature style. They made it that hard on purpose. Then again, I suppose you hate Contra of Dynamite Batman, because they're hard too...
Two things: "What were they thinking" is an AVGN mainstay catchphrase that you overuse and the part where you say "Oh yeah, that's right" about the whip is a total mimic of James. You're not that funny, but that isn't to say I didn't enjoy the review. It highlighted a lot of my own bad experiences with this game as a kid. I HATED it. For ALL the reasons you mention. I wanted to beat it SO BAD, but I would always die on one of the bosses and have to start from the beginning. Awful.

The places to find the two hidden life bars were in GamePro Magazine at the time this game came out. I bought Festers' Quest along with my NES, and spent hours in frustration before getting the magazine.
You have to remember that this is NES. The game has some great music and IMO is a pretty good game for being based on a TV show. that being said alot of the things you've mentioned are true, but aren't really that big of a deal to me at least.
I used to beast this game when I was 7. My dad was almost 40 and he would do the same. You complain about starting at the beginning when you die, that was almost every game on NES. Did you play games when you were a kid??? Or did you get an Xbox when your friends started playing Halo?

Plus, Your fifteen minutes of 'rant' could easily be summed up in one sentence: back in the old school, game developers mistook cruel difficulty settings for a challenge. Not much you can do when you only have 2-KiB of cartridge memory to work with, so you just make everyting insanely difficult.
No need to offend others. However you are correct. The weapons are different (level 7 and 8) and walls are no longer obstacles for the shots. Also the enemies are considerably weaker and easier to finish off. I got this game today, very fun.

I like this game a lot; great music, amazing graphics for an MMC1 game (scrolls in four direction, huge overworld, cool colors and enemies, nice work with shadows and light), a big arsenal of weapons and items.

I liked this review, it was different than the AVGN. He tends to make fun of anything he can come across, while not always going into detail about the game. You went into a lot of detail, so now I know everything that sucked in this game.

I think compairing this review to the AVGN's review shows how often that the AVGN reviews to not cover a game well. thee3nd actully played the entire game while AVGN skims a game. Hell, AVGN did not even make it far enough to get the whip.

Here are some ways in which Fester's Quest could've been improved:
1.) Start with more life bars, or have each square contain 100 life units, like in Metroid.
2.) Have the Level 8 gun be the level 3 gun, and be more powerful.
3.) Have Passwords or Save Stations!
4.) Have only one building interior(with the energy tank) or none at all.
5.) No weapon downgrades!!

none of these games were made for children, in Japan the main audience was teens/twenty somethings/adults and they changed the sprites and frustrated the fuck out of kids across america. Nintendo of America is a bunch of dumbasses. They ruined many a great game through gay localization.

i agree with the part ripping off simons quest but as well mortisha uses a wip in different sereas of the adoms family so they couldof used the wip upgrades but make them different too simons quest like mortisha has all these massive ataking plants they couldof made a wip with a bitting plant at the end so it could attack and eat the enimy.

Dude, I saw AVGN's video, and prior to that, I had seen thee3nd's lots of times. My theory is:People were dying to see James review it, James wouldn't do it, thee3nd reviewed it, James saw thee3nd's review, got jealous, and tried to match it.

Agreed. I'm a fan of AVGN and just came across this one. Fester's Quest is one of the obvious games to attack as a horrible game, so people making these sorts of videos are evntually going to review it.

I liked this review, it was different than the AVGN. He tends to make fun of anything he can come across, while not always going into detail about the game. You went into a lot of detail, so now I know everything that sucked in this game.

I think compairing this review to the AVGN's review shows how often that the AVGN reviews to not cover a game well. thee3nd actully played the entire game while AVGN skims a game. Hell, AVGN did not even make it far enough to get the whip.

I enjoyed this one more than the AVGN's even though I'm a huge fan of his. I liked this one better because there's more gameplay in it. I think AVGN is going downhill with his game reviews, he needs to spend less time trying to be funny, and more time playing the game, and finding the shitty parts in it. I don't care if bugs bunny shows up, he shouldn't have to, it has nothing to do with the game besides the fact it's bugs bunny. REVIEW THE MOTHER FUCKING GAME

Yeah, this game fucking sucks! I loved this game as a kid at an early age, but looking back, I can't see why. I trusted you, Sunsoft! Even Armake21 said this game is bad! Anyway, great review! I was gonna review this shit fest, but now I'm comfortable knowing that I don't have to. :) And Golgo 13 is a great game!
