  • Hey, thanks for the tutorial. However, how could I transfer my already existing Wordpress Blog to a domain on MAMP? I mean I already have a blog running online (not installed on my computer though) and would like to have it linked to a domain. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • I love the way you teach on your videos, very well informed and not annoying like some video's I've seen. Thanks for all your help, I learned more from you in 15 min then I have all weekend. Keep up the great work!! I will recommend you to others. Thanks

  • Great Tutorial

  • Awesome tutorial. Thanks a lot!

  • How do you host a live website using MAMP?

  • @iPhoneiPadReviews Live website meaning? Local? On the Web? If local, follow this tutorial. If on the web, you don't need MAMP. Web servers already run the needed software.

  • Fantastically clear & easy to follow tutorial, I have watched many tuts, this was by far the best to follow with clear install instructions for WP.

Thanks heaps cleared up a lot of questions on getting started.

    Jeff

  • It was all going so well! 10.00 the wordpress site opened up but instead of asking Blog Title it asked Site Title. Opened settings in wordpress and again Site Title instead of blog title. What happened?

  • How can you upload changes from local host to your live site?

  • very helpful

  • Thanks for the vid. I'm up and running with wordpress!

  • @RetroEdits It's the local host address plus the name of the folder (site) you create with Wordpress. And is opened just as I did in the video from the WAMP server..

This is established when you setup MAMP software. From there, I backspaced and added the name of the website that I created with Wordpress.

  • thanks for this. pretty handy stuff!

  • THANKS THIS IS GREAT! Really nice of you to hook us up. Im new to this and after your step by step im up and running.

  • @qechols1 You're welcome.

  • fantastic.

  • Excellent got me up and running in minutes, thank you

  • Thanks so much for this post. It helped me do something I've been trying unsuccessfully to do for a couple of weeks! Great voice, manner and method.

  • go to 2:59 to skip life story and get to the actual tutorial.

  • At 9.40 you lost me you said "and were going to go to" then you just type something without saying it, I thought I could read it but it doesnt work.

  • he deletes everything after the "local host number" and types in "/dizzyhouse/wp-admin/install.php"

  • @numisone TY for following along :-)

  • @MTHKITEBOARDS It's the local host address plus the name of the folder (site) you create with Wordpress. And is opened just as I did in the video from the WAMP server..

  • @DizzyDougTV Hmm I think I'm having the same problem as some as these other people. I see what you typed in and I typed in the name of my folder (site) where you did, but the page doesn't load and remains a white page after I press enter. Hopefully you understand what some of us are running into. If not, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

  • @MTHKITEBOARDS Yeah what you have to do is delete the extension (you can see in full screen) and add the database name thingimy that you put on the Mamp site. That should you see you through to the wordpress admin/login

  • When i try to open up the install word press this comes up

    Error establishing a database connection

    please help!

  • Very good tutorial, have some problems yet due to other issues like no-ip so I´ll try it again and again...

But you got me the best result yet.

  • mac is based on linuy ?^^

  • Thanks for this video, it's really helpful; however, when you are creating your new blog, the WordPress welcome page. What was the url that you used? And could you be more detailed on the other pages that you go to as well. Thank you so much for this video.

  • Very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

  • @asdfghqw3456 That was a great, and well formed sentence. The least you could do if you were going to insult someone, would be to use grammar.

But again, a fucking, bitch ass troll like yourself, who uses the internet and a computer for anonymity, because he doesn't have the balls to say shit like this in real life and to someone's face. I guess is to be expected of you. Now, isn't it?

  • Hey man would you recommend using this for a production server?

  • you should add a forum to your site. i think it would make for a nice tech community. if you need help picking a software let me know. i've tried 4 different forum softwares.

  • @gqgk I love forums. There is one for DDTV, just haven't made it public, yet. Built it as a testing bed for phpBB3. As for my experience with forums, ive been running them for years. One of them, just turned 4 years old last month. Until I purged posts to reduce the size of the DB for transport to a new server and upgrade from VBulletin 3 to 4, it had over 100,000 posts.

  • @DizzyDougTV i started off with phpBB2 and went to phpBB3, but i've tried SMF and IPB. my favorite is MyBB for sure though. that is a huge forum though!

  • @gqgk I started with phpBB 2 as well. Wasn't impressed at all with SMF, and IBP is kinda weird.....VBulletin is rather pricey, but so freaking awesome. If the DDTV forums go live, it will be phpBB 3. And since you have experience, I may come to you to assist as a moderator. If you'd be interested.....

My Gaming And Technology forums is more a small community now, 120 members less than 20 active, and before I purged the threads we were well over 130k posts. Now at 30k+..

  • @DizzyDougTV i'd be very interested in assisting as a moderator. i have a lot of phpBB experience. i had a gaming community that was about that size but with a few less posts

  • @gqgk Awesome. I'll be deciding on the forums very soon, hence me showing it in this video ;-). I'll keep you posted and let you know if and when it goes live for registrations.

  • ah i actually needed this :) thank you. you always do things right when i need them haha

  • @gqgk No problem.....You're not the first person to tell me that. LOL..

  • I love Macs. You should check out Squarespace. Very helpful vid.

  • @SchneiderStudios Thanks, so do I. Macs and OS X are it for me..

I've tried Squarespace. Played with it twice, actually. I have a ton of add-ons, widgets and customizations on my site that make moving to a new platform difficult.

If I was to start a new site, I might use it as it was pretty cool.

  • @DizzyDougTV Oh ok. I love the new site, but the logo need some works. More readable, sharp and clear (:

  • @SchneiderStudios Thank you, sir. Yes...i hear what your saying. That header logo is a work in progress. I have a couple different ideas on how I'm going to change the header logo image for that design.

As for the design...ive been working in moving back to more of a blog style look. And i'm very happy with it so far.

  • great vid doug... this really helped me out

  • @prigby67 Fantastic. It's is a great way to play with CMS's locally where you can afford to break, learn, develop etc. And you can't beat free, right?

  • @DizzyDougTV yeah im starting to get into this stuff and this vid helped me alot :D

  • @prigby67 Right on..

  • Great stuff Doug! I can see lots of effort was put in and it was worth it :)

  • @GhSpecialist Thsnk you. I appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
