is lifter puller the name of one of their albums? i have boys and girls in america and another i forget wat its called but it has chillout tent on it. im a new fan of theirs i saw them at bonaroo this summer and loved em.
Thanks! That song was "The Swish." I can't remember the name of the music video director, but he did it pro bono b/c he wanted to build his portfolio, and HS wasn't big enough to turn down a free video at that time. It's probably on youtube somewhere.
the lyrics questions part was the most awkward thing i've seen in a long time. Apart from that it was pretty cool. It was good to hear why they changed so much musicly from lftr pllr
If you notice, the guys don't crack a smile until that part of the interview. It loosened them up a lot and made the rest of it go much better. That question (or series of questions) serves to draw attention to a lyrical device or catchphrase that Craig has been using for years to the point that it's a trademark. But that has gone without mention in every other interview or write-up I've ever seen of the band; this was a way to point it out and pay homage to his use of that turn-of-phrase
You would have to live here and know about Lifter Puller to appreciate the portion of the interview with the lyrics. Hold Steady is a unique band since the music hits home with the lyrics.
Dis'n Franz already.

Dude, Lifter Puller is Craig and Tad's former band. You should check out a few albums from them if you like the new band.

no offense to the interviewer but this is awful, really bad questions. and why would you ever quiz someone on their own lyrics?

Yeah, really. But Craig face was priceless when he was doing it!
