Im sorry but thats just horrible. A cat on a leash? common now, how many pumas you think he had to abuse until he found one that is actually ok with it?
@EREX94 lol it's not modeling, but I see where your coming from. I'm pretty sure the professional was encouraging the students to touch/pet/feel and also the animal to be in close proximity with him/her to familiarize him/her with children. Very beneficial for both humans and said animal "cougar".

Unnamed dangers? I was attacked by one of these motherfuckers and I only survived because I actually saw it coming. These things are brutal and their populations are growing, you've got to be careful out there. Bears don't scare me at all, but these things...
Thanks for going out and doing education! These kids will want to conserve wild cats because they have had an up close experience. (You can't spark genuine interest from a picture.) BTW Don't listen to the crazies who have no experience with these animals and spout over inflated "danger" stats. They're typically control freaks who can't fix their own lives and try to distract from their personal shortcomings by attempting to control everything outside themselves.
Idiocy. What people don't realize is when these pumas grow up they are either sold off to be some dummy's pet, ditched at a rescue or euthanized. This practice of letting people touch them also puts the kids at risk and has resulted in at least one death in Oklahoma. Also, these young animals are usually come from breeding farms where they are pumped out every few months and thrown away as soon as they're no longer cute.
@Nicodemus98 well there are successfully bred animals who are reintroduced into the wild. the way the animals are raised though mimic their experiences in the wilderness as close as possible. even if it's living in a preserve it needs to fend for itself, they're not hand fed... i guess it depends on the reserve. sad state of our wildlife worldwide, unfortunately.
This has never happened with any large predators. Captive bred predators can never be reintroduced to the wild. They don't have hunting skills and do not have the avoidance to humans. Such an animal would die of starvation or be killed by humans.
somehow, i'm not very comfortablw tih this. shouldn't the animal be left in the wild, or at the very least, in a zoo if it were truly for information/if it was a rescue? domesticating wild animals is not kind for them in the long run, especially if they have to be released in the future and have lost their natural instincts.

Cool cat, and cool vid -- thank you for sharing.
It is possible that the baby puma has replaced the puppy as the ultimate chick-magnet? :)
