he had throat surgury in the late 80's ever since then his voice dropped a few octaves, but he trucked on and transposed all of his music when he plays live for 3 hours. He cant hit the high notes or do any falsetto whatsoever, but man he has a strong voice! even at the end of 3 hours of really tough songs!
