  • One dozen lighting "experts" commenting on here and apparently not one of them has spelling and grammar capabilities beyond that of a primary-school student.

  • Why is a stage manager giving this talk? im sure that a lighting manager would use the proper terms like cues and pre sets. colour scrollers not rotators when since did that scroll rotate?.

  • why come you have no tattoo?

  • Gel Rotator ...... Doesn't he mean Scroller.... Also you need specific Scrollers for certain lights. There is no one generic Scroller.

  • SCROLLER, not Gel Rotator. Oh, ever heard of LEDs?

  • @HabTasianet Gels and LEDs give difrent effects. Lighting 101 mate. Can you get CT colours from LEDs ?

  • @alexxj220 No, but that technology is being developed. I still don't fully support LED's because most of our inventory at the theatre are still incandescent fixtures. All our moving heads are incandescent as well.

  • @HabTasianet It was a rhetorical question. For shure incandescent is the way to go for some fixtures, All i was saying is that with LEDs you cant use effects filters and there not to useful from FOH :)

  • Gell rotator? lol... They make these things called LEDS and intelligent lights you know...

  • It's a scroller, no one calls them rotators. The gel scrolls it doesn't rotate!!!

  • But Why does he call it a Gel Rotater???? its called a scroller.

I know in the UK and here in Australia they are called Scrollers maybe its different in the US?? anyone care to elighten me?

  • @TimCC10 Never used a Flying Pig WholeHog of any description but I have used a variety of Jands HOG's and in my opion they are a pritty good all round desk. The Jands HOG is basically the main choice of console for many shows done here in Australia and now with the discontinuation of the HOG 1k the industry is moving to the MA range of consoles.

  • @martin0mac2000 Yeah, the MA range of desks are incredible, i myself am an ETC guy however, i trained on them and started with them so EOS is still my favorite console out there, but the grandMA is gread because you dont need to set up a plot and plans in vectorworks or something like that first if it isnt a huge show. they have the programs built in....plus it has an "opps" button

  • How long does it take to programme the Gel Rotator ?

  • @therocketboy95 Not too long. Intelligent lights have DMX addresses recognized by the board. Simply set the DMX address, program those addresses into submasters, and play around with them.

  • LED is best for color changing / mixing.

  • @123scottsdj Yeah for dj'ing and club enviouroments LED is better but for large venue stages LED is simply not bright enought YET.

  • that is terribly false scrollers may not be the best way but the are imeserable better then leds.

  • i loke leds better

  • does that rotator work on DMX?

or do you put it through a powerpack and then trough the dimmers?

  • hey.. where can i get a gel rotator???

  • on ebay
