@yermomchicago I didn't time it, but if you stay on top of it, you can definitely finish it in one full day. Make sure to take your time though so you don't mess up. Waiting for the inner edges to dry was one of the longest parts. Good luck and have fun!
Thanks man, great video. You convinced me to finally break out the saw and cut my precious snowboard. Now I love the damn thing. I live up in the AK and now my skier pals arnt waitin on my lazy ass to get up the hill in snowshoes.
I'm glad the video worked for you. It is great to revive those old boards instead of letting them collect dust.
Australia looks great, I would love to get out there one of these days!
Also, thanks for the Tips link. There is a ton of great info there. I will be making a new splitboard (along with a new video) soon with all the new things I have learned.
Thanks a lot! You seem so happy to be making a splitboard. How is it working out for you? Using your video as a I guide I split on old board and gave it a new life for this winter.

Thanks! You've just convinced me to buy a Voile kit and convert one of my snowboards to a split board. They should give you a commission for posting your how-to videos.
Can I just use an old beginner/intermediate board or do I need a board with less flex since cutting it in half will structurally weaken it?
Ha! I would love a commission...or even some free hardware to make another splitty.
I have not noticed any weakness to my board after the cut, but some people say they do. I have not taken mine on a groomer though. My biggest recommendation would be to just use a board you enjoy riding in powder because that is all it should be used for after the conversion.
awesome informative video brosky.... man it seems like it would be a pain in the ass to do the binding changeover in deep pow. how do you like it so far??
Dude, I thought it would be hard to change the bindings in deep pow as well, but it is not! After a few times it just gets super easy and It takes much less time now than what it took when I was making the video. The board it great so far. Absolutely no problems and it kills the pow!!!
Definitely. You can buy the kit for $150, then skins for $150. If you have all the tools you need, you might spend $30 on random stuff like T-Nuts, Epoxy and Sealer. Then find an old used bored on craigslist. With a few hours of work you have a sweet splitboard for less than $400. And if you have an old board you want to use, you can do it for less than $350. Compare those prices to a factory splitboard....this is much cheaper. Plus you can use the exact board you want, and it's fun!!!
If you have old bindings you can also use those at no extra cost, but I love the Spark Fuse bindings. They will make the overall setup lighter and they are just overall great bindings. The only downside is they cost $300, but with the money you save everywhere else, you still spend less than a factory splitboard and it has a closer feel to riding a regular snowboard instead of being higher on the board like you would be with standard bindings and the voile plates. Good luck, and have fun!
What was your total project time? Is this something that could be done in 6 hours, or over a weekend ?
Nice job. Very thorough and easy to follow.
