Kid is more like Schala's daughter. It's kinda like the Silent Hill thing with Cheryl and Alessa? (I forgot her name). Being part of Schala, Kid's actions as Project Kid were very important. If she didn't meet Serge and all that, then Lavos and Schala would merge becoming the Time Devourer. There's a Wiki that explains it better.

Rwar... this game was, is, and will always be perfect... not quite the best of all RPGs... (it grew outdated, but still a clasic) but if they had finished the remake, (and used better graphics >.>) it would have been brought back and reborn in this generation, and maybe more people will actually remember it ^_^
