The human ear has limitations and each individual person has personal hearing limitations. Public address systems have reproduction limitations. Add to that sound card limitations, cable loss limitations, and so on. I guess the bottom line here is you are correct. On a spectroscope, flaws and limitations would;d be clearly visible in comparing any recorded or encoded material versus the live original performance. But then the question begs, how many persons besides a gifted few would notice?
