@jesusramos1900 we can tell them to adapt to there inviroment and solve for most logical anser. a robot that thinks for itself is posible but its just to much programing time to creat it that no one has tried yet and the size of the computer would need to be about the size of disneys render farm to "think" in a resnoble time frame
@blanbproductionshd thats the thing, we tell it what it can and cant do. To have a robot think for its self is giving it is own functional working brain. Do your research on this, I have. We havent even gotten close to a robot having a functioning brain. People take "AI" out of context like it can think for it self and stuff. It is just called advanced computerization and programming. Saying we can but havent tried is saying it is to hard thus impossible.
@gofish8195 we are giving it software that can mimic a childs learning process. Think about it for a second..........that means it cant learn, it is just programmed to act that way. Human learning and robot mimic learning are way different. Robots will never have a mind of there own. about robots with biological brains....that is a whole different story...it is so low in tech that creating an ants brain is harder then figuring out how our universe came to exist, a question no one will ever know.
@jesusramos1900 yeeah its not learning unless its biological, but i read somewhere they used rats brain cells to do something and 'learn', or something... lol

@jesusramos1900 the software was written by a human but software can be designed to write itself based on inputs, which is exactly how humans learn. if you touch something hot you make a note of it and then compare it to things in the future. humans come pre built with a bit of knowledge which is instinct, the rest they learn on the go, the same can be done with robots, its actually the hardware that is behind not the software.
@RustyNex there no argument, like with every argument on the internet, i was right from the beginning. So once again a machine does what we program it to do, no machine can learn an adapt, if anything we programmed it to look like it is learning and adapting.
@jesusramos1900 with that way of thinking you could also claim that human beings are programmed to learn, from the fact that other human beings create them and raise them. by writing a program does not mean you are influencing how the robot learns, just creating and instant in which it can. also more importantly, the way human beings learn is not fully understood or mapped, and electronics can be built to generate things beyond the original design with no intentions, look up chaos computing,

@RustyNex once again we created the robot here on the video to act like its learning...unlike the natural human brain that actually develops its in ideas and agenda....this can and will never be able to....unless we program to act like its doing so. Its all advanced computing and robotics.
It's a good way to test applicable intelligence and dexterity as well as response time. For example you could say you have a computer that knows about everything you have downloaded however it doesn't make use of it aside from a few software programs. This chess shows a robot is able to apply its knowledge into action on its own, as well as in this case shows off its ability to learn and dexterity to move a piece.
So I guess I, as a senior in high school, not with perfect grades, should just throw myself in the trash to make room for these children robots sort of speak.
@euch27 Judging by your grammar skills and your description of yourself. Yes.
However, throwing yourself in the trash will only add to the problems of our modern society. Maybe you should attempt to do something useful with your life. Take advantage of whatever education you are getting and do something useful. Otherwise, you are useless and therefore a burden. Working at McDonald's will not cure cancer. Now get to it.
@BigTymerPimp yeah but at least its still work. better then living in ur moms basement and leaching off her paycheck because here in canada they have welfare....
@illadin12 Those are personal benefits. We are talking about benefiting society as a whole. Being on welfare and not planning on getting off of it is a huge burden on society. As I said, working at McDonald's will not cure cancer.
it's in the rules of robotic to make sure that robot cannot harm humans , contrart to popular believes in robot apocalypses , robots cannot override their programations and freely choose to attack humans
@mononcleroger Say what? It's in Isaac Asimov's *fiction* books that robots have programming to not hurt humans. I assure you, the real world is not so clear cut. I'm pretty sure that military robots have no such programming, nor do the industrial bots. In fact... I'm going to guess that the robots that DO have such programming are programmed for it poorly at best.
@NightRunner417 you do realise that the laws of robotics DO exist , they aren't exactly the same as the one of Isaac Asimov's book but they do exist . There are no robot killer existing unless you think about automated sentries and stuff like that but they aren't given any AI so they cannot evolve .
No Robot Is ever Coming to the standard of a human in this century or maybe never. Trust me. Terminator is fictuous. What would the robot get from ruling the word?? It's life only which has emotions.
@123NoDisk456 Maybe so, but you don't have to have keen intelligence to be absolutely destructive. Look at fire or viruses. One simple mis-step in programming, and a robotic creature could simply act on severely badly written programming that tells it to do things that lead to the destruction of an entire biosphere. Since it is programmed, it will never think better of what it is doing. Think of a cloud of self-replicating nanobots mindlessly destroying all plant life, for instance.
nature already knows that making a being already programmed to know everything is inefficient. It is logical that we do likewise. What we are doing with computer is actually against the intelligent design.
i think when AI has a consciousness its gonna be amazing to see how fast it learns how it perception of reality and when it start creating its gonna be amazing and it scary at the same time just hope its not like us and filled with desire and most important evil...wow it blows my mind
Well, ... what a child really does is: observe another creatures movements (human or animal), maps each body part and movement to his/her body, creates a goal trajectory based on what the creature moved in the environment, plays back the movements with her own body, compares the result to the goal trajectory, modifies her own movement plan an repeats.
oh...that software isn't that new....if i had the founds i could make it....anyone interested in AI programing send a message to me, i will teach you the basics ^^....it's recommended to know the basics of C programing language.^^.
This is a very minor component of how children learn. If you're really interested in AI learning like children, look at Novamente and the OpenCog project. The initial architecture is almost completed and the project is suitable to teach the AI all the way until adult intelligence.
Yuck, since technology advances faster than evolution, i'd rather we "technologize" us before robots. I don't want robots learning faster than I do... >:O
The human brain is still incredibly more powerful than any machine we have today. Many experts in the field of AI firmly believe that when machines are capable of reaching human-like intelligence, biological enhancements will blur the line between man and machine, or even enable exponential organic evolution. By developing these machines, we are ensuring our own future of exponential evolution. The robots will take over, but they'll be extensions of us rather than a terminator.

Then in your case i would be very worried.

@MengoMango so you're saying you want to become something like a cyborg?
Because that's pretty much what you're saying.
