These viking metal bands(I'm talking only about viking metal bands, not pagan overall) are very nice, but I think instead of talking about norse mythology histories, they could teach values about the Asatrú and show the religion, not the mythology. Yes, mythology is cool as well but when some people hear about mythology tales they think that it is an old thing, a past thing. Asatrú has not died !

Too many of these "Folk Metal" bands seem to forget that they're meant to be "Metal" bands. They're just (pretty boring, riff-based) folk music with heavy guitars, more often than not. Isengard, mid-era Bathory. and Enslaved are good examples of proper "Folk Metal" bands.

Umm to everyone saying Amon Amarth is viking metal, first off Viking metal does not exist it is just metal with norse lyricism, and Amon Amarth don't consider themselves "viking" metal anyways and they don't even consider themselves Melodeath, Amon Amarth consider themselves just Heavy Metal(In an interview). Now back to the folk black metal, no list of folk or black is completete without Ulver's "Bergtatt" that is the best black folk album out there.

Pretty much anything by Windir is awesome, and that's probably my favorite Ensiferum song too. Could have done with something by Manegarm and/or Flackenbach, but that comes down to personal preference I guess.

My only real gripe is the Bathory track. I mean, I LOVE Bathory, but there are quite literally entire albums of Bathory songs which are all better than that one (in my opinion).

In all, a pretty solid list.
