hi, can you make a review on Nikon 18-105mm vs 18-200mm, i want to know their picture in day and night photo quality. i am planing to buy which one is best buy..( for nature, wild, and landscaping, travel photography).
Being honest it's a cracking lens I wasn't expecting much but it's a sharp puppy across the range.
It's not going replace a faster lens for low light such as a prime or fast zoom, but for a general purpose lens it's much better than I was expecting.
Sir, I have nikon d90 with nikkor 18-105mm lens and recently I receive a pack of ZEIKOS 2X telephoto and 0.45X wide angle lens kit, how will I use this kit with my existing DSLR lens?
Hello! I have a question and I would be very grateful if you could help me. I am torn between buying a Canon 550D with lens 18-55 and Nikon D3100 with lens 18-105. I have never had DSLR camera before. So is it better for me to buy my first camera with 18-55 lens or can I skip and buy a better lens even tho I am a begginer.
@sladoled1996 go for the D5100. this 18-105 presents basically the same sharpeness as the the 18-55. I had both. now i have the 35 1.8 (wonderfuland cheap lens) and sigma 17-50 2.8 (much better in terms of sharpeness and also wonerful aperture)
Do you strictly review Nikon lenses/products? I'm in the market for an 18-200mm lens for my D90,but I'm considering a Sigma. I'm new to photography. Right now, its more of a hobby, but I'd like to go farther with it.
Bro I want u to do a comparison between 18-105 and 18-200mm f / 3.5-5.6 G ED VR2 lense.I know that I get better range in 18-200 but I want to know which one gives better image quality..
Heey as my first lense on my Nikon D5000, i dont want to get an 18-55 lense seeing as how almost everyone ive heard has grown out of it in a matter of months. that being said im debating between an 18-105, 18-200, 50mm f/1.4, ( keep in mind i want to get a 10-24mm in the future thanks :)
can you do a preview on the new nikon 50mm f 1.8g , and compare it to the nikon 50mm 1.4g ? and tell me should i get nikon 18-105 mm or the nikon 50mm 1.8g ? please can you answer me, i want it to be not to expensive but to have good aperture like the new nikon 50mm 1.8, but also to have the range like 18-105 ??? can you tell me wath to choice between range or aperture ?
@tordern22, no it just is not bright enough, its sharp no doubt, but i shoot alot of handheld in low light, the shutter speed you need with this thing is is to slow. at 35mm its already at f4.5.
@Jolinator of course this lens is no good in low light situations without flash, no lenses with that aperture is that.. For low light situations without flash you should use f2.8 or lower.. This lens is good for the situations it was made for..
I'm planning to buy a D5000 soon, my first DSLR. But I can't really decide between the kit versions with the 18-55 and 55-200 lenses or the 18-105mm lens, which would be a litte more expensive.
How much better is this lens, compared with the 18-55 (and the 55-200) ? Would it be worth the extra money?
@ArtoftheImage Doesn't the 18-105mm come optional with the D7000? I'm pretty sure they only charge an extra $299.99 which is a great deal considering the lens goes for
Do you think the 18-105 will look too bulky on the D3100 body as an everyday, carryaround camera? Im leaning towards getting this one instead of the 18-55 kit.
@Ishcoa "I'd go for the 18-105 or 16-85 on a D3100, lenses are probably more important than bodies."
Yes. I have the D3100 and the 16-85, and I am more than happy. The 16-85 is very well controlled except possibly at 16mm at the largest aperture, but other than that it just works beatifully. I have a feeling I'll keep this lens for a long time, but the D3100 will most likely be replaced by a D7000 or a successor to that in the future. (Hm. The 16-85 artoftheimage review has been removed?)
sir, you could actually set the menu "ON" distortion on D7000... this lens is good for wedding but not best. as long as you use the GARY FONG lightsphere...
@kauxkaux - You could. Depends how good you are with flash lighting because you're going to need it indoors with this lens. Now if you were using this lens outdoors in good lighting, then no problem. If you're going to use fast primes as well such as the 35mm f1.8G, 50mm f1.8 or f1.4, and the 85mm f1.8, then it could work for you. Me, I prefer to use my Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 in conjunction with my 50mm f1.4G for available light.
@Forkroute Nikon so far ahead of canon for PHOTOGRAPHY when it comes to their pro bodies...it's not even funny. I'm a pro photographer, and i took a huge loss selling my canon for nikon stuff, and i'm so glad! nikon's 1200 D7000 is doing better than my 5000 dollar 1d mark iv was. And the D3s, blows away everything canon makes. I can't even imagine Nikon's next set of pro bodies.
@rogerwp - I haven't used Aperture, but I would assume it can do distortion correction. Have you tried looking through the Help section to see if there are instructions? I use Lightroom 3 which does distortion correction very easily.
what camera is being showed on the top right?

I Have a question, every DX lens like the 18-105mm or the 18-55mm will be really 18-55mm or 18-105mm on a DX camera?
AmitMusicStaz 6 months ago
@AmitMusicStaz DX cameras have a 1.5x crop factor. The actual mm will be 18 x 1.5 through 55 x 1.5

How can I correct the cons of lens in lightroom? E.g. cromatic aberration?
Tetsuoha 9 months ago
@Tetsuoha go to camera calibration and find your lens in development. then if it is bad still, you can manually fix some of the changes
