wow...wow..wow I am so choked up....to see this slide show..thank you so much for sharing. I am glad to know that yung khmer got so lucky and have a better live... but remember that.. some olders khmer like my self still have problems this days..why?because we did not have the time to get education, so we stared with cleaned bathrooms...goodluck and thanks again.
Reading all ur comments from Aus. still making me proud of you all!
Most of you are in my kids age, thanks to you all again who still understand of what is Khmer, try to know ourself is the better trying to blame other?
Take a look in our homeland, the smarter and the powerful ones are eating the poor instead of helping? Let us be the ones who try to help for real not just talking? Any of you youngster must promise yourself that you will never corrupt if you had a chance to hold POWER..! Tha..
Hey......... I 'm all choke up seeing this video. I also was one of the homeless kid who live in the camp. I had no families, so they put me at the foster kids shelter. can't ....continue anymore. To sad. thank for sharing the video.
Our school used to visit these camps when I was child....we and many villages around that area used to give them foods. cloths, medical etc....now we are also happy to see them have a good chance in the third countries...We hope that you would use your knowledge to develope your country for a better cambodia....
I got lots to do with Thai people in those period... we did get lots of help from Thai, i mainly had 2 thai family who loved me as their own,
We're far from understanding and building our nation as u could see in some of these comment!
Big fish always eats smaller ones, education is the only way to get us better? In the mean time the rich kept blinding the Gov. so they can be richer, this is LIFE in Khmer at the moment..! Sawadee...
1:35 that fuckin kid looks just like me when I was little, I was born in one of them shit wholes Kao Dang I think, where did you get those pitchers from? Starting to wonder about that kid, every damn time I watch this video. So where did you get those pitchers?
It's a surprise to learn that there are Khmer students and Khmer cultural show at Penn State. There are also a lot of Khmer student associations in the United States. One of the largest Cambodian student clubs is at Cal State. At Long Beach, CSS has the most Khmer student members anywhere in the U.S.
yeah, penn state's khmer population is very small. it use to be about only 15 to 20 out of 45,000 students. but KSS promotes our khmer american culture as best we can for a smalll group. love doing it :)
Im the second generation of the Cambodian people in America. It's sad to hear what happen to our people. But what is interesting is that my mom was in the actual Refugee camp that this slide show showed. She recognized it. This is a good slide, shows me the hardship of Cambodian people, in the Genocide.
Los Angeles 1:00am sit in here watch the slideshow and song my tear drop It take me back to 30 years ago that where we begin the so call refugee, hunger, fear, dissertating,
Looking back throught this slide show, it like we been in dark sooo many long years, years of truggle, years of wars and of poverty, hope all of those is enought. More killing of our own kind and try to rebuild country !
The refugees also lived in Thailand during this war. I learn the history and I think this must be very hard time for Khmer people. Polpot was really born to destroy.
Thank you for this video!!!! I worked at Khao I Dang, Site II and 8 - I will never forget this time - I`m so happy to see pictures of young people born in the refugee camps. !!!!!! Thanks
Thats so cool that you keep all those pictures memory and what most important, you were able to locate and united your childhood friends. So you were born in 1985, I already left for the state (US) and already in 9th grade.
What is important for our country to be more properly is to return your education back to our homeland. Look at Israel; they are about 2 million but a 2 million of 100% educted.
I feel your pain, and lost most of my family member too. I hope all Khmer learn to how to forgive each others and learn how to start over. In a essence, reincarnate.
I see that you have some picture's of young refugee children that become successful. We need to remind our young Cambodian children in American just how lucky they are and what they have. Instead of running the street, run the school, I'm all about seeing young Khmer kids make it in this world of our. God bless America and our Cambodian people.
Thank you for making this slide show, it really bring me back in time. Like you I was once part of that refugee kid. Living in a world not knowing what the out come of our future.
When the Tai refugees ran away from the Mongol killing, Khmer allowed them to live in Khmer land and later Tai kicked Khmer out from the Khmer land. So when the Khmer refugees ran away from the KR killing or the Viet killing, why can't Khmer live in the former Khmer land?
Your question is something political with no real answers.
This video is suppose to show the lives of Refugee's and the Dream of the Children of the Khmer Refugees. This video is to promote the future of all Khmer people. Not to swell on the past where we can do nothing about. We can only learn from mistakes and live better lives.
So the lives of Khmer refugees were not from the past? My question was just pop up on my head when I see this video. Of course we can't do anything and I don't expect to do anything, but we can find out to understand why?
Thai can't allow Khmer refugees living in the land Khmer used to own it, because Thai are afraid that Khmer would do the same thing as Thai do to Khmer, betray and steal Khmer property!!!
Don't tell me that you too wanted to kk123452009 wanted some credit from Khmer refugees. You Thai got paid billion of dollars for Khmer refugees and Khmer refugees have not complained about the bad Thai services yet, so get the hell out here LOL
Sorry for the bad service. We're so poor in those day. We had to survive ourself too. And now we still have many homeless ppl. However we always give you a hand.
You got no choice but to obey the UN pressure and before the UN, your Thai soldiers killed thousand Khmer refugees. Luckily that the UN was there otherwise your Thai soldiers could have killed all Khmer refugees.
Google Thai soldiers killing Khmer refugees that's good enough proof. But I'm not surprised to see Thai such so blind always asking for proof even proof is right infront of their faces LOL
Thank you so much to posted these videoes for our young teenagers know about that.I been in K I D since 1979 to 1981 i left K I D to live in USA.I have had lots of our khmer friends during i lived there.I saw lots of khmer suffering lived in that camp. But no body coundn't against them back and just kept quiet all the time.I missed all khmer lived there too much.

Please help me out!!!! You can reach me at Sokhoeum_pot at yahoo dot com
i promise you guys... one day everything will be okay... I have to do it ...If I cant help you in any way... Iam a failure... But i wont ...I promise...
No, you are not a failure, having survived from all the adversity that Khmer people have gone through is a great success. I am proud of you for being alive and being Khmer. Don't be discourage, success come in small increments.
I'm touched by the images this clip, and thought it's one of which is lacking among us. We tend to focus on the negative and ignore the positive and progress.
