  • The best version on youtube ever... I loved the way you play it... Much different than what we used to listen and play. One wonders how you would play the rest of the suite.Very dynamic.I loved the way you play it and going to check now if you played any Chopin and how different they sound. I am stuck at the 3:40 ... at some point i must have decided that the sentence finishes there...I am finally getting over that.. Don't even want to think about the last variation :)

  • 掌聲鼓勵真是太棒了!

  • This song is ment for a harpsicord. It sounds good but you should play it with out the pedal.

  • Thanks!

  • This is a quite nice performance. It seems as though the faster the piece gets (during the later variations), the better you get.

Btw: Did you missread the note played during 1:21 and 1:37?

  • Best version I've ever seen on youtube!!!!

  • @mmm713 -- thank you very much.

  • I did not ever played this piece. BEAUTIFUL! You have a nice sound. Thanks for this video.

  • Very nice piece by the Greatest composer who ever lived, Handel to him we bow the knees.

  • Dear mr. Barton. your playing is truly wonderful. i was wondering if it would be possible for you to make a tutorial for this piece. i am trying to learn it by ear and it is proving rather difficult. it doesnt have to be anything fancy, just playing the 2 hands separately would suffice. i've gotten the right hand down pretty well but the left hand is a little trickier. thank you so much for your wonderful musical talents

  • i am glad that i can listen it

  • Hi just wondering why you played all the chopin etudes on an upright and i thought the repetition would be more difficult than playing on a grand, have you a grand at home or more to the point would it be better than an upright from a piano technique point of view?cheers

  • @afertyus1000 -- no, I don't have a grand at home unfortunately, this piano in the video was on loan for a week from a piano company in Thailand specifically to try the 4th harmonic pedal on this model and make several videos accordingly. The harmonic pedal is especially suited to playing Baroque music hence the choice of piece.

I am hoping the opportunity presents itself to record the Chopin Ballades and Etudes on a grand piano one day but am not holding my breath :)

  • Complimenti, gradevolissimo.

  • Beautifully sensitive and insightful playing...thank you for sharing Paul..saved to favourites and playlist

  • This is my great honor to listen your fantastic mini concert here, Professor Barton.

I always love to listen your beautiful and skillful performance. 10000....*****

You're my Super idol pianist! :)

  • Amazing...loved it!! Thank you for sharing :)

  • Wonderful!

  • Beautifully played and recorded.

  • Very nice piece and the way of recording is nice too, congratulations but I think you are still looking for the best configuration. Hah and something funny: In polish 'Handel' means 'trade'. :D

  • You show us a new world of sound Paul! Thank you!

  • Simply wonderful. 5 golden stars. My two cents.

  • Beautiful playing and music.

    With love, Jeanne

  • wonderful Paul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very great pinaoplay, thanks Paul you are very gifted, ciao -Ed-

  • thank you for sharing :D so nice and special

  • Handel music sounds more for the gods than kings....

The power is supported by such a textured yet pure sound recording....

  • @douglassmcann Thank you for sharing this very nice Handel interpretation with me.

  • haha! this piece always makes me think of the Swingle Singers... don't know why, but despite their caterwauling they had a strange fascination for me.

Your piano version is better, needless to say. Flawlessly beautiful. The sound is also better than the first version. I know absolutely nothing about the harmonic pedal, looking forward to your video. :)

  • @lilythepink123 -- struggling to record the piano has had me thinking of Edison's quote “We now know a thousand ways not to build a light bulb” -- but for him there was a light bulb at the end of the tunnel so to speak, I remind myself. Yes, I remember Swingle, quite liked them ...

  • Great sound! Interesting 4th pedal..

  • Very nice playing, Paul.
