  • why so many dislikes?

    very good cover

  • Should raise that mic stand man, it looks like it's in a painful position haha. Epic tight cover guys nice work.

  • For the Intro, are you using the Tonebender Fuzz?

  • Nice talk box solo! I'm working on Jambi next!

  • how do you use a talkbox? do you harmonize with the guitar or something?

  • Could you let us in on your setup. processor? amps? effects? Thanks

  • Okay ....seriously, that . kicked . fkn . ass!

Nice work guys, very impressive. *****/5

  • That was great dudes, solo was my favorite

  • Wow, that was awsome

  • awesome! congrats!

  • is that a geddy lee signature J-bass behind you?

  • a Lamb of God shirt with camo shorts, Willie Adler would be proud! Does Chris V. have a youtube account with videos?

  • From one Tool-ish bassist to another.. great effin work, dude!!!!!

  • quite impressive to play this song without any background music.

  • very impressive

  • people named brad and that play bass r awesome, this proves it

  • Wow, great work mate!! Btw, What peddals are you running through the song?

  • you gys...this kicks ass man i like listening to yall jam....right on!!

  • bad ass

  • fuckin beaast

  • Huge fan of all of your videos!!! Actually found myself singin to it and noticed yall played a tad extra in one part but no one can tell! Keep it up, hope theyre tour this summer reaches the southeast again! \m/

  • just get yourself a skilled drummer and a skilled vocalist and u have big opportunities, mates!

  • how do you get that tone for guitar? jesus

  • @Obl1terat1on54 Same equipment as the band... and amazing technique.

  • Nailed the solo!

  • Damn..........what are the settings for the bass at 1:03.....can't get the echo right.

  • If you have a digital delay pedal(white) the settings are all knobs at the 12 O'clock position... fairly simple haha

  • Wow! I am seriously impressed. Most people cannot play along to this song by themselves without fucking up or getting lost let alone play along with another person. Extra props for the great guitar solo. Brad: don't listen to the haters, the bass can never be too loud! lol.

  • MASTER CHIEF HELMET!!! XD

  • is that a log shirt?! u need to do some covers of them

  • good job on the talkbox solo, I want a talkbox now

  • to the bassist, what effects are you using on this song? especially at 2:14, that part is really cool!

  • delay and flanger.

  • too

  • Damn...you guys are good. Where do you 2 live?!

I need a band that can play Tool...

    (I'm a drummer)

  • indeed, the guitar is a bit low. anyways this is a great video, nice work!

  • on the bass the first "but i, i would, wish it, all away" justin uses the whammy pedal, not sure what setting but i know it is harmonics, and kinda hard to hit a octave harmonic on the 8th and 3ed fret

  • nope. He is using just flanger. That is it.

  • He slides up, not a whammy.

  • @comalley0130 pinch harmonic

  • brad, if you see this, i really hope you can asnwer it, how do you set up the talk box?

(well if its a heil like adam's anyways. i know the rocktron ones you just plug in)

  • I just bought a Heil talk box to cover this song and you just plug it in!

  • guitar needs to be louder. good job.

  • u guys are really good you ina band? Lol you should beee :]

  • im trying to get my friend into tool because he plays bass and justin chancellors pretty sick he likes schism, but what are some other tool songs with some cool bass lines. im a drummer not a bassist so i dont really know

  • all of them. :)

  • @mcornell91 try parabola. the bass for that song is so intense

  • @mcornell91 the pot, all of lateralus, prison sex

  • @mcornell91you should try either stinkfist or the pot. Toolbassplayer is right. all the songs tool makes have a great bass line.

  • @mcornell91 if you want a drum challenge, try ticks and leeches. generally awesome titles: vicarious, undertow, lateralus, parabola, aenema to name but a few

  • @mcornell91 Vicarious is pretty sick.

  • @mcornell91 Vicarious, right in two, forty six and two, Ænima, H, Disposition and so fking on.. Justin uses alot of bass effects, like the guy in the video (And this guy is pretty god damn good aswell :)

  • @mcornell91 Hush, Jimmy, 46&2, The Grudge, The Pot, H., Pushit, Flood, Prison Sex, Intolerance..... I could keep going

  • @mcornell91 Reflection is a really good one

  • @mcornell91 Like thats an excuse to not be able to appreciate good basslines...

  • dood how mucho does the Wal bass cost ya ?

  • i know im the billionth person to ask this, but what effects are you using here for the bass? i can guess a compressor but thats as far as i got

  • Hey man why your pedalboard video is no longer avaible?

  • That's a very impressive bass and guitar sound, pretty spot on (I'm sure the bad recording is to blame a little for that).

Could you tell me what pedals the guitar's going through? thanks, keep up the playing!

  • finally an awesome band who does tool covers. all of your covers are awesome.

hey Chris V is that a gibson and what amp do u use and toolbassplayer u have so many pedals. What is that bass you r using and is the one behind u a getty lee singature

  • fantastic

    i really like

but the bass is up a bit too loud

its hard to hear the guitar riffs

  • God damn, that is very impressive. Did you guys use a click track or have the song playing in-ear to keep time?

  • Thank you. Absolutely not. Go watch all of our videos...we usually keep very good time....sometimes we play fast due to adrenaline but most of the time pretty spot on. We know the songs very well... ;)

  • Yeah, I had to ask because your timing is great, and any Tool fan knows that their time signatures are very difficult to follow.

  • @TOOLbassplayer I heard the song playing in the beginning.

  • This song is so awesome. I wish I knew some toolbasspalyers to jam along with...

  • hit me up if ur ever in charlotte, ya got one rite here

  • great bassplay dude

  • are you kiddin me?

    THIS IS AWESOME...

  • it sounds great. but the solo i have to admit is nuts to play.

  • is this all you guys do is play tool? with such abilities and age why not try to make your own stuff? :)

  • holy shit amazing solo amazing cover

  • awesome!

  • Spot on FLAWLESS.

  • Man that talkbox solo is spot on. Amazing, as always.

  • i know the guitar player uses the peavy with the mesa 4x12 alot, you or him should check out the peavy XXL. its got a real nice tool (adam jones) tone. on the ultra channel. not too much high, its almost like a darker tone as described in adam's wikipedia about the blueface. its a really nice amp on top of that too. im glad to say its the first actual head ive played through. and when i said you or him should check it out, it wasnt an insult, just a bit of info. keep playing.

  • the bass bit at 1:10 is awsome!

  • nice

  • now you need to write your own songs...nice cover though

  • he does...

    but oh well!

  • It was a pleasure watching this mate!! Both of yous rock!!! \m/

  • Sounds Great!!!

  • Nailed it... Especially that talk box sole.. WTG

    Bass great as always

  • dude i love ur bass is it a warwick? gets great tone :)

  • It is a Wal MKII bass. Not a Warwick

  • w00t talkbox

  • subscribed :)

  • such an awsome bass riff

  • that is awesome. you guys are sweet.

  • Amazing work guys! A little less vibrato on the solo and you're basically spot on with the entire song. Overall A+

  • that talkbox solo was fucking awesome

  • Well I only find one thing odd:

Justin plays in the beginning on that 9/8 riff from 0:16 to 0:44, in fact, it's usually what he talks about when interviewed.

It's not a problem with the video though, everything about this is great.

  • you have confused me...what does he play?

  • It's pretty clear from both the album version and any live video that Justin doesn't play anything on that part.

He comes in at "But I... I would..." when Danny ditches the electronics.

  • chris v you rock

  • the talkbox solo is awesome i just find it in the wrong pich. maybe cuz i have been listening to heavy music all day. but anyways great job

  • Great tone as always.

    Chris rocked the talkbox!

  • The whole thing was actually pretty damn good...and the guitarist looks like steve-o

  • the talk box solo should be better

  • tool is a master band they use so many pedals in one song and make it sound good

  • you bass tone is sexy man. any better and i would wet myself.

  • kick ass don't stop

  • amazing talk box solo!

  • I love the way Chris dances. Haha.

  • nice job. i've got mad respect for you guys. i play bass in a tool tribute band in nyc called schism. just wanted to point out that at 1:04 on the video here, your timing is a little off on the delay part - you are missing the second pick hit (or maybe hitting it a little off time) it should come a split second after the 1st delayed note. it was a bitch to get that part down, believe me i know. try it though, i think you'll notice the difference. thanks for all the great vids!

  • watch my other video

  • great job guys

  • i'll be over with my drums, we'll all jam

  • You're using flanger with the chorus on that beginning part right?

  • Is Chorus and Delay

  • what talkbox was used in this video?

  • It just goes to show how much Danny Carey means to Tool. This is great playing but the song has a totally different sound without a drummer.

  • esta mas rapida

  • Woh, also, Brad, check the intonation for your low D string. I just noticed that it sounds like a TAD off.

  • Great job... especially without a drummer. Yikes.

  • was that the guitar payer singing?

  • Nice freaking job.

  • Nice work!

Adam Jones settings on BOSS ME50 on my channel.

  • duuuuude, frickin' aweeeezum! nailed it!

  • i know that i have commented on this video before, but i wanted to reiterate that your work in learning the guitar and bass pieces in this cover are very accurate and fun to watch. as a drummer obsessed with tool and danny carey's work, it's very exciting to see guitarists and bassists on the same level. in a few weeks when i am home and have access to my drum set i may record jambi if i can get the video equipment. keep up the strong work!

    spiral out,

    Will

  • Thanks man, I really appreciate it! Really. :)

    spiral out

  • can somebody explain to me how the talkbox works with the guitar?

  • The sound is being projected through a tube that is mounted next to the microphone. The sound then resonates inside your mouth and out to the microphone which projects the sound through the P.A. system.Does that make sense?

  • yeah you pretty much nailed it there.

there's probably a related video on how to use a talkbox with your guitar.

    spiral out

  • What are the settings on chris's amp?

  • Fucking good!

  • very good job

  • coolest fuckin thing i have ever seen, well done

  • Great job on this - the solo sounds just like the recording.

  • Looks like a line6

  • It's a B-52

  • very nice guys 5/5

  • Starting about a minute in, is that delay & maybe chrous?

  • delay and flanger

  • Dude I ask only because I can't find it else where, but whats chris's rig?

I can't really see what he's using besides an epiphone silver burst with the swapped pickups and a big ass amp.

  • Excellent talk box solo.

  • Chris gets an amazing talkbox tone here...what make is he using?

  • amazing cover

i might be trippin but it all seems a lil to fast

  • no such thing XD

  • You guys are awesome! F*ck what the haters say bro...Keep rockin!

  • those are really nice amps...and good job

  • Is it possible to tell us what kind of settings you have on the guitar amp?

Or am I just shootin' the wind :P

  • Nice guys thats fucking awesome... Great Work

  • killed it. insane skill here

  • Can definitely tell you are getting better on bass.

You too ever thought about trying to get a real band together? I know Creating is different than covering, but gotta make that leap sometime.

  • This is the 10,000th time i have answered a dumb comment like this. What makes you assume Chris and I (or just I) do not have any original material? Don't ever assume dude cuz it makes you look very foolish. Arg you people annoy me with rewtarded comments sometimes. Just because I choose not to distribut my creativity on Youtube does not mean it is not happening!! Arg!

  • I gave you a compliment, and asked a question. A genuine one at that. I apologize I don't sit around YouTube and read every comment posted to your video's.

I certainly didn't mean to imply you had no original material.

I asked because I was a fan, not because I wanted to listen to some dickhead go off on a tirade.

  • If you re read your comment you can see how it can easily look like you were not being constructive and yes it is the 1000th time I have been asked the question even though the answer is right on my profile for all to view. Now you wanna call me a dickhead, too? I appreciate that. :(

  • Yes I Can see how my comment looked that way, and I already apologized.

I asked cause you guys are good, I don't have time to ready every ones profile. I am pretty sure you can see your response was less than kind, aka dickish.

Next time I suggest you either ignore these questions, have a nice answer ready to go to copy and paste, or put it in each description.

You are the only bass player on my subscription list, so take that as a compliment.

  • ok. Kiss and make up. *hugs* Thanks! :)

  • Dude, did you swap-out your Wal pickups? In this video they look like plain old MM HBs.

  • keep smokin the good stuff buddy. the volume was way down///and they sound NOTHING like MM pickups...MM has no where near the mids you hear here...

  • fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • This is crazy u guys,so difficult to stay in time:-)Brad this guitar player on here is killer....Love what u guys have going-

  • TalkboKXXXXX!!!! best part defo... :D

  • guitar solo friggin awesome!!! i saw adam do it live and didnt know know he used vocals til then. 5/5

  • pipiduro= owned

  • pipiduro=owned

  • cool bass but wrong dist

  • wrong distortion on bass? God, These comments are fucking idiotic. If you are talking guitar well we don't have a $4000 Diezel guitar amp you moron.

  • wooooooa great job dudes

very nice but the timing..haha just kidding

i was reading the other comments :P

    very nice great great job

  • peralez2383 can you afford a freaken Non-existent Wall and Silverburst?

I seen a freaken Wal in a guitar for $20k and he said they are rare and yes the owner was right they are rare and a freaken Silverburst can range from 5k-40k American dollars

  • Epi Les Paul silverburst runs for $600, got mine for $450.

Gibson Les Paul silverburst runs for about $2000

  • "guitar is way too fast"

    Shut up, its perfect.

    "and has wrong distortion"

Oh really? No, I synced this song up with the actual song and listened to both at the same time, its impeccable.

"it seems the more you remake them, the worse they get"

Seriously? Go look at brads first videos and tell me if he's gotten worse or better.

You are just some idiotic perfectionist who wishes he had the balls and money to do something as fucking cool as what brad and chris do, hope you enjoy yourself.

  • Man youjust bitch-slapped that punk. LOL thanks.

  • ROFL I do know how to fry a fish don't I lol.

  • SHIT DUDE YOUR GUITAR AMP IS ON FLAMES ON THE INSIDE FOR PLAYING TOO GOOD!!! lol nice going at it..

  • guitar is way too fast and has wrong distortion

  • dude...try playing the song without drums when the adrenaline is pumping...this is such a dumbass comment. And distortion is wrong...dude it's not a diezel amp it is a B 52. ROFL. Post a video of a better cover....oh wait...you can't....and you won't.

  • Let me know when you create a better cover with the correct timing, you should have left your original version(s) alone, it seems the more you remake them, the worse they get

  • Ok bro...you are making yourself look like a fool. You obviously do not understand the difference between "tempo" and "timing". The tempo is fast here but the timing is impeccable. Chris and I execute this much better than the last video. ALso, you obviously have not seen Jambi live. they play it about 20 seconds longer live because they play it much slower, I guess Tool plays it "way too slow".

  • ya people need to chill the fuck out adam jones uses somethin like 3 fuckin different amps and countless other petals and its a COVER anyway people need to stfu once and a while

  • shit, with machine gun smith you would be the perfect cover band.!!! good shit

  • badass!! one of favorite songs of all time

  • I love to see these as a "video response" to other tool covers on youtube. :)

  • Holy shit that talkbox solo was BAD ASS!

You guys are too good and since i love tool so much the love extends to you both as well for being good fans and excellent musicians!

    I wish to learn <3

  • is that a wal bass? and if so how tha hell did you get that?where. fucin badass

  • Lol. Get with the fucking program.

  • the bass part is cool and the talkbox is realy amazing.By the way, how much does such a devil's machine cost ?

  • the tempo is a bit TOO fast...no drummer..but good job anyways...i'll sing it !

  • For those who bother to read a talkbox works like this.

Your guitar sound gets amplified through a tube that goes into the guitarists mouth, by playing and making the motion of talking with your mouth you will basically be able to shape the sound of the guitar.

Go look for "talking guitar solo" on youtube.

  • nice job all around. Maybe we can do a cover sometime. lemme know.

awesome talk box by the way. how the hell do those things work?

  • i explain below if you look at earlier comments
