  • Belyaev is my favorite singer of Soviet times, along with Kharitonov. This song is AMAZING!

I also like his song "Lovely moonlit Night."

  • Yes, I tried an internet translation as well which didn't provide enough of a coherent

structure to make good sense. I hope some russian chap can translate them for

    us some day.

  • @aschwarzinger1967

    We need a Russian poet . . .

  • Could someone please point me to english lyrics of this wonderful song.

    It would be much appreciated.

  • @aschwarzinger1967

This is poetry which may not translate fully into English due to double meanings and metaphors. Google Translate mangles it, but does indicate that it's a love song.

    merci Evgeny merci.

  • @Belyaeviste

    I love your username!

  • @Belyaeviste Zeeena ? :-)

  • sometimes when I sang this alone, I make a little tears...

  • Tremendous. Sometimes you just stumble across a new field of music that makes one wonder how many other jewels we never discover.

What a beautiful rendition by Belyaev and what a magical song. I love Nikitin's voice too.

  • @aschwarzinger1967

I agree. This is definitely one of Belyaev's best. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • I love to listen to this song in the evening, when I am calming down before going to sleep. It is soft and melodic, like a lullaby. But of course, my favorite, favorite part is Evgeny's voice. They didn't call him The Nightingale for no reason!

  • @russiandoll87

I agree - his enthusiasm and skill are astonishing.

  • Wonderful voice! I also find the comments here very interesting and informative. I have just discovered that there is information on Wikipedia about Evgeny Belyaev now - that's great news. Am wishing there was an English version of the lyrics, maybe some day. Thanks so much for sharing his fine recordings. (Canada here).

  • @goldie0800

You are welcome. I fear that no translation would be adequate, as the original appears to be poetry. So it would take a poet to translate it, IMO.

  • @mymyn69

Thank you for the lyrics in Russian. I think it is probably not possible to translate it, because it is poetry. But I'm guessing that it is about a love affair which began happy and ended sad.

  • Sorry, I have to delete my first commentary, because I made some little mistakes!

Now here is the resume of the film:

1958. A Committed French Communist, Irene devotes herself body and soul to the Cause.

She is fervently opposed to proposed constitutional reforms. At home, the atmosphere is electric between Irene and her husband, a right-wing shoe shop owner and Charlot, Irene’s slovenly brother.

Things become even more complicated when the Red Army Choir arrives in Paris for a concert.

  • @mymyn69

This is all fascinating. I would be most grateful if you could please message me with a link to an online verification of this. I would like to add your information to Belyaev's Wikipedia page, but I cannot add such a lot of information without an online citation.

  • @riverhouse2007 Dear Linda! I'll try to find a citation online, it's not easy because in 1993, there was not Internet as today, and until now I could find only little resume of the film and very few photos, it was not a big production...Of course if I find a newspaper article or an interview, I'll send you!

I'm very happy to share with you such a passion!

Big greetings from Strasburg, France! Mylene

  • @mymyn69

And big greetings to you, too. Thank you so much for this information, and for the effort you have made. I look forward to the results of your research. Good luck!

  • @mymyn69 wow I want to watch the film! Where I can download/watch the film? Thank you :)

  • Many, many thanks again to have posted all these so beautiful records on Youtube!

You can see extracts of the film on Youtube too...with the French title, "Tout le monde n'a pas eu la chance d'avoir des parents communistes". There is a song in this film, which I didn't find the title in Belyaev or Bukreev's discographies: "At the waveside", maybe you know it or an other tenor sings...

I'll send you a resume of this film.

  • But you can hear in the film the beautiful singing of Yevgeny Belyaev in Kalinka (even if he's not mentionned!) , and at the end the hero sung Moscow Evenings with the voice of Ivan Bukreev, the other tenor soloist of the Alexandrov ensemble at the same time

The film director chose the actor Victor Nieznanov because of his tall height (Y. Belyaev was tall and robust), to show the contrast between the Frenchman (the husband), slight height and the very tall Red Army soloist...

  • Hello Linda!

Here is a wonderful song by a wonderful voice!

Do you know that this great singer and charming person was one of the heroes of a French film (it's not a joke!)?

It was in 1993, the title is "Everybody didn't have the luck to have communist parents" and the story take place in Paris in 1958.

Director's mother fell in love with Yevgeny Belyaev when he sung Kalinka.

His first name was changed in Ivan, the actor was Victor Nieznanov who has not the Belyaev charisma.

  • I want to translate this song into English. Will you please explain to me what the words "Не на память ей обнова
