  • This is another selection I am singing for the Tribute Album

Follow & Friend me @ facebook

    (AngelMichelle & You)

    &(QueenDinah Washington)

  • Dinah is having so much fun with the xylophone... it's a delight watching her.

  • had to do a double take to re-check that date. 1958? Unbelievable. This is a real find, in color.

  • Wow, shot in color too, wow, back when music was music...

  • I am 54 years old and my Dad would play all these albums for me while I danced me around on his shoes . What a sweet memory that brings back n I often sign her songs just from my childhood memories. How lucky I am!

  • Ladies and Gentleman.. Mr Urbie Green :D

  • τι υπεροχο...

  • I was born in 56' and I hate to dis my generations music, but, there will never be another Dinah or "her" generations music... sadly, but thankful we have some of this magic to enjoy forever...

  • Dude that xylophone player is one hell of a cool man.

  • @colgatesmile123 who is it?! absolutely kickin!

  • The phrasing!!

recorded at Newport Jazz Festival Newport RI July 6, 1958.

Don Elliott (mellophone), Urbie Green (trombone), Terry Gibbs (vibes), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul West (bass), Max Roach (drums)

"There are all kinds of singers. Somehow, Dinah made most of the others sound like little girls" Dan Mogenstern

    Mercury EMS-2-401

EmArcy Jazz Series, Dianah Washington, The Jazz Sides

  • @fastborzoi thank you!

  • The best version of my fav song..

  • cool!

  • How come no one does xylophone solos anymore

  • Alex, you brought just one video, but showing the best jazz singer ever...and it is a live show, not a simple record w/photos. Congratulations.

  • Maravilhoso!

  • Fascinating, Dinah please come again to this world!

  • Wow, quel vidéo!! I just felt like is was there :)

  • Everybody sure looks like they're having a great time! Happy, happy faces! Thanks to Dinah!

  • To all those that enjoyed this: Listen to Billie Holliday´s . You´ll love it too!

  • Whos on vibes

  • STUNNING!!

  • DINAH!!!!

  • who is on the trombone?

  • Urbie Green on trombone

  • distinctive!!

  • Re-enable embedding dude.

  • what is embedding?

  • energy to the max.......god bless her artistry!!!!!

  • shes gud but frank sings this better so does billie holiday

  • Frank who? Sinatra? Give me a break lol

  • Dinah looks alot like my friend Veronica Declet, shes a lovely soul. :)

  • Dinah Washington stands out because she knew how to tell a story.

  • I know what Ella could do with her voice and no one, Sinatra, or anyone else could sing like Ella Fitzgerald. It's like comparing the voice of Boy George to Aretha Franklin.

  • She's fenomenal

  • That's what I'm talking about. Take ALL of me. So I suggest you come and get the rest of me!

  • :):):) iiiha!!! :D:D:D

  • Never reakized there were so many great renditions of "All Of Me", right here on You Tube.

Hodges, Armstrong, Clayton the best instrumental. This is great Dinah, and the best of the vocals, with Sinatra second, then Ella and Billie. Of course the great backing here doesn't hurt!!

  • wrong.

  • hahahah SO wrong! hahahaha!

  • Exactly this version is on the CD "Dinah Washington sings standards" from Verve, it was recorded July 6, 1958 at the Newport Jazz Festival, Rhode Island!

  • The audio maybe, but not the entire video is from '58

  • Somebody should do a movie about her life.

  • wow!!!

    Jorge-Argentine

  • brings a big smile to my face. cheers dinah. keep on singing wherever you are. the angels will join you.

  • dinah's is my favourite rendition of this timeless standard. i also love the one by chava alberstein. but dinah is the absolute undeniable top!

  • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

  • Best I've ever seen...Thanks!

    -Emile

  • Where did you get this, it's awesome!

  • Now thats what i call Singing. And swinging.

  • here what is called to sing!

    thank's for sharing

  • göbblåt

  • "göbblåt" ????

like in the sentence : "when I wake up, and the sun is shinning, I always göbblåt" ???

    please help !!

    ps: beautiful song isn't it?

  • wonderfull performance

  • nobody finer!! i love her! Such awesome style!

  • Why did the director of this video not focus more on the band? I would have liked to see some of Terry Gibbs playing his vibes solo - instead of the camera panning around at the audience. Although they finally focused on Dinah Washington while she was singing - they managed to include just a fragment or two of Max Roach. This sort of attention deficit disorder happens more to directors and camera people when they are filming Jazz than with any other genre of music.

  • I was so desapointed when I saw this video ! I was kind of nervous because I couldn´t see the band and her....I was waiting all the time and it gave me such a bad sensation.

  • lol...attention deficit disorder

  • love this song...deborah cox remade this song for her new cd

  • you should hear the cd uncut cd version of this performance,it is awesome.

  • What a beautiful voice!

  • Awesome!

  • Would she survive her tragic 1963 overdose she, and not Ella Fitzgerard would be honoured as first lady of jazz..

  • Terrific!

  • Is that Don Elliott playing the vibes?

  • No, it is Terry Gibbs, leader of the swingingist big jazz band of the 1950s.

  • you can feel the amazing energy there!

  • Of course it's Max Roach Drums, Terry Gibbs vibes, Bob Brookmeyer trombone? Just thought I would let folks know that... Sammy

  • AMAZING! I love Dinah and have listened to her for years. It is so great to see and hear her perform! Thanks for posting!
