  • When illusion spin her net I'm never where I want to be And liberty she pirouette When I think that I am free Watched by empty silhouettes Who close their eyes, but still can see No one taught them etiquette I will show another me Today I don't need a replacement I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant My heart going boom boom boom "Hey," I said, "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home."
  • To keeping silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut So I went from day to day Tho' my life was in a rut 'Till I thought of what I'd say Which connection I should cut I was feeling part of the scenery I walked right out of the machinery My heart going boom boom boom "Hey," he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home." Yeah back home
  • Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve I had to listen had no choice I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart going boom boom, boom "Son," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."
  • Now why can't more bands today… just do… that!?

  • Peter Gabriel just made my Huffy ten times cooler.

  • This has got to be Peter Gabriel's best song, ever. Since the first time I heard it I can't listen to it without getting chills.

  • ...he understood, what a 360° stage means! U2 didn't know exactly!

  • That bicycle cam thing is awesome. Saw him in 1980, he backed up Bowie. Awesome, and talented man. Gonna do a drum/vocal cover.

  • He no longer looks like the great Mel Gibson, still aged gracefully though.

  • take my things!!! the man is a god there was no replacement

  • sorry but which is the dvd from this tour?

  • Thats a Moulton bicycle. Astounding. Probably around 2K's worth there.

  • great old tune that always makes me smile and remember my all my Riverdale Rocker friends .

  • My heart going boom, boom, boom. Grab your things I've come to take you home.

  • But then gain no beliefs are wrong, they are just beliefs. But just stop the guilting others into your mindset.

  • someday soon, He'll come to take you home, be ready, accept his offer right now and start changing your ways. Otherwise, the price for not following HIM (Jesus) is way to high to pay for an eternity!

  • Oh please! leave your posturing naif evangelicism out of here! This song is about Gabriel (Peter, NOT the bloody angel!) leaving Genesis (again, the band, not the misinformed creationist story in the Bible). Just take it elsewhere.

  • @MaxDaMedic max look for lukedamedic and follow his lead.

  • @SuperSangabriel Thanks but no thanks. I trust to the Goddess and the self-aware Divine in all of us - even you my friend - and not any religion that teaches that we have just one chance to reach spiritual maturity or suffer 'eternal damnation'. But, as what goes around comes around 3-fold, I will leave this here in love. Blessed be.

  • @SuperSangabriel Yeah I am pretty sure if Jesus is such a loving person, he would not mind me forming my own belief. And if I really do get punished by God for not following his son, then that is a God I want nothing to do with.

Take it elsewhere, the message will spread on its own if it is good enough. Needing to post it on Youtube comments, with threats of eternal damnation, proves how wrong that belief is.

  • @SuperSangabriel

Actually, according to Jesus the Kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:20). The problem is that we refuse to see beyond our own material perceptions and acknowledge that we are already home. To change our perceptions and seek the kingdom within is the spiritual path that we are all on. I really think if you listen to the lyrics of the song it will bcome evident that is the point of the song.

  • @uncleezra1 one of the problems that we have with the bible is the interpretation that each one of us gives to that blessed book, that´s the reason of the existence of more than two thousand different groups that follow Jesus Christ, and I don´t agree with you when you say we´re already home. We´re in this life waiting to take our leap to the next level. Be smart and make a wise desition, follow God.

  • @SuperSangabriel

I have been exactly where you are, so even though I don't agree with your position I do appreciate your right to it.. Whether you would want to accept the fact or not, we are all on the same path.

  • @uncleezra1 are we? you´re right on something though; we have to respect each other opinions even though we disagree enormously.

  • Timeless tune!! 1977 I think...right?
