This documentary is a kind of interesting but I have to make correction to the standarts and banners at Crecy. King John, was King of Bohemia of Luxembourg dynasty. Why did he and his troops wear eagle of roman empire?? He surely wore Bohemian Lion or Lion of Luxembourg, his son Charles was margrave Moravia, he surely had Moravian eagle with him. Their companions were important bohemian nobles-czechs, many of them died there, it would look much better if historical facts are said properly

maybe because Karl IV. (Charles) was elected as King of the Romans on the 11th of Juli 1346 for the first time, the battle of Crécy took place on the 26th of August 1346.

@Blitzer1234 I know that, but at that time, he was considered antiking to Louis the Bavarian, many imperial cities did not recognize him, and from that title he had no real power at that moment. His real base was Bohemia and he took soldiers from there. Document says two german kings and 500 hundred german knights took part of the battle. I doubt that there were any Germans at Crecy

The first thing to keep in mind is, that this documentation shows things in a very general way. The second is, and that's a fault people of today always tend to do, not to aply todays nationalities to the middle ages. Bohemia as an elector was integral part of the HRE and Karl at that time (anti) king of the ROMANS (official title) and could this way be seen as somehow "german". Regarding heraldry you are absolutely right - such uniformity was never seen on medieval battlefields.
