Leonardo Da Vinci did not made Shroud of Turin. Da Vinci was born 1452. The carbon dating on the Shroud tested it to be made around 1260-1390 AD. Leonardo was not EVEN born yet when the Shroud was made.

Whether or not radio carbon dating is accurate or not is, at this juncture, beside the point. Even if it is an accurate science, the 1988 results have now been invalidated because it has been determined that the small sample used for the testing was from a medievel repair of the shroud.

Unfortunately, there will never be any way to know positively if the shroud was the burial cloth of Jesus. It will, however, remain a fascinating artifact that is worthy of more examination.

The carbon dating was done on a corner piece that was woven to restore the cloth after a fire.You don't here much about the other carbon dating that was done in a different region of the cloth that registers about 35 a.d.This is a controversial cover up .If the truth was out many beliefs would change ,and religions would be affected that is why they try to dismiss the compelling evidence.

I think that all of you are so preoccupied with carbon dating being right or nwrong you failed to notice maybe it's right - the results were correct. Why do I say this

1. During the Middle ages, relics were highly sought after.

2. evidence exists is Vatican documents, especially in a painting which shows 10th, 12th, 13th, centrury bishops displaying the shroud in front of a crowd of believers.

3. Basically, the bishops containiated the shoud.

I have a question...within a year or two ago a large bone was discovered (you may remeber this from the news). Since it was too big to be carried by helicopter it had too be cut in 2. When they cut it they found live DNA...the marrow was still "squishy". It's a know fact that DNA can only be perserved for a few thousand years. Finally my point... carbon dating told us the bone was millions of years old but if DNA can only survive for a few thousand years it proves carbon dating does it not?
