I don't upload videos of me playing guitar because I am not just another pretentious byproduct of the 21st century angst driven musicians like this kid is.
Sometime around 1962 my older brother brought home a rev Gary Davis record. We were both blown away. I still am. Im so glad he is still listened to. Ive been playing guitar since around that time, but never felt that I could take on any of his tunes.
pambo80 i love this song. great version. i have been trying to learn it by earbut cant quite get it especially at the chord changes. do you know where i can get a tab for your version. by the way keep singing in your own voice.
nice. proper treatment of a song that should grow with the times. I only saw him once and he played "I took her in the kitchen and she wouldn't say quit" on the banjo:)
Very good playing abilities and I know Reverand Gary Davis's lyrics aren't the clearest to hear. Nice translation job! Yes, I'm one of those, "no soul", white fellars.
lyrics//voice//tune.. just mesh wrong. that's just me, i'm not speaking for anyone else. i'm not saying you're horrible, but if i was a fan, i'd be waiting for a later album.
Really good ! Could you send me the "lyrics" you sang ? althought I got the fingerpicking pattern, I can't understand exactly all the words you say (I'm french-canadian)...
spursclips wrong your voice well suited. Do you prefer the unmuted sound of the bass strings, i know most including myself lean heavy on the mute to get the contrast between the boom chick of the bass with the bright ring of the melody. This aint a criticism by way i loved this ! Keep the country blues alive :)
La voix et 'interprétation sont parfaites et le côté "désespéré" de la mélodie est accentué par l'effet video. 2'28" de magie que j'écoute en boucle depuis une semaine. Génial.
The guitar sounds alright but the lyrics arn't convincing--doesnt sound like you've actually done cocaine--listen to dave van ronk's version. But good effort nonetheless.
After Dave Van Ronk's version this guy isn't the deal sorry....

so is this song based around three chords? C, F, G?
sounds like C add something, F add something, and a partial G somehow.

Nice work. Wasnt the Reverend something else? Can you imagine hearing him on a streetcorner in NYC?
saullouis 4 years ago
damn good job. that song is fucking true!!! well played. that is what that shit will do to you!
jeffntab420 4 years ago
Way to be helplessly white. This song is better left to the Reverend.
bluevelvet7474 4 years ago
... god i hate "striving artists". fyi, you're lyrics are pretty fucking weak on your myspace songs.. and i doubt a blind man cares about skin color.
cox1356 4 years ago
Well, I don't mean his skin color literally, just the fact that he has no soul and he doesn't really add a twist to the song or anything.
I was wondering what about my lyrics you don't like? And why you decided to post about my lyrics on here instead of on my myspace?
bluevelvet7474 4 years ago
b/c i don't use myspace?
