@stevesg92 well it is really cold, with temperatures in January around -43 celsius, although significantly warmer than the south pole which is much colder at an average winter temp of -58 celsius, being a land mass in altitude. Yea, their clothing is very warm

@johnnyred82 Well my logic tells me that based on a bit of trivia that the Earth's axis of rotation is on about a 23.5 to 24 degree tilt, and after dividing that by 2 to bisect the angle which gives you about 12 degrees, then subtracting that from 90 degrees will get you to about 78 degrees. But then again that's probably just me thinking I am smarter than I really am...as usual...

What would be the reason to reach N 78°35'7" W 104°11'9" even if it was the magnetic North Pole at some point of time? The "North Pole" explorers always wanted to reach was the geographic North Pole at N 90°! There is no point in reaching the magnetic North Pole as this point is constantly moving. They should have gone that extra 12° further north to see how difficult it is to reach this very spot!

The North pole is on floating ice that moves a large amount annually, so if you built a research station there after a few years it would be nowhere near the north pole. On the south pole they don't have this problem (or atleast to a lesser extent).
