@syydeboy Sorry, it's hard to answer this question... For one, I don't listen to fidget. I also firmly believe that as a producer it's your responsibility to develop your own style and sound. If you're absolutely desperate to have a standardized "fidget" sound my best advice would be to study that genre of music A LOT. Then get to know your equipment/software well enough that you can easily make the sound yourself.
@syydeboy I'm not really sure where you're drawing that conclusion from. Fidget spawned electro-house. It has roots in the Garage house which is probably why you're making the assumption that it has anything to do with dubstep. Look, electronic music is a giant inbred family of music. Saying that dubstep and fidget come from the same origins is a shaky foundation to base your claim that because I know anything about dubstep I should know about fidget too.
@syydeboy GAH, stop talking shit! This guy knows his stuff, I'm sure anyone that listens to his music knows he knows his stuff, and I, for one, know my stuff - fidget is MUCH more closely related to House - I mean, come on, it's called Fidget House, more formally. Dubstep has much less to do with fidget than House does, and if we're going on tradition, Dubstep has very little to do with most anything we've mentioned.
@SpaSpaSpaz That's right. Massive is just a synthesizer. When you run it in "stand-alone" mode without any sequencing software like Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic, etc. you can't record a song with it. But, if you load it as an instrument in any of those programs, the sequencing software will let you record the music you play with the synth. If you have any other questions head over to my website: anodyneindustries(dot)net and send me an email
@DJDARKSTEPZ: First off, keep in mind that just because you're not getting good sounds out of it that doesn't mean Massive isn't capable of good sounds. Learn how to use every function on the synth and understand what it does to shape the sound. Also, the synth patch is often just the first step in creating a nice sound. Think about dropping EQ and other effects onto your fx chain after you've made the synth patch to accentuate elements of the sound you like and want to hear more of.
OMG!!!! you' re a Massive master haha!! seriously man!!! nice tutorial..I learned new things!!!..................just asking.... do you know how to create that "growling/distorted voice bass" used in dubstep???? They appear in Bar9 - Piano Tune, Borgore - Guided Relaxation Dub.......etc..... thanx (:
@Victrack011 use a bit crusher! the one in massive is ok but you can find better ones in certain effects vsts, dont know which ones would be best because personally i dont like that sort of bass! anyone can make filth these days, its getting beyond the joke!
that was off the fuckn slut bro, i did what u did in massive, and my sound came out crazy as a maori hooker - you are the man, my next song is going up, and you're name ll be in the song somehow, title/voice over/some shit - i've got an idea...
Really nice work, that's cleared a lot of stuff up for me. keep making these vid's really useful for people like me who only just started using the software
@ZigadenusElegans Haha yeah I guess I did just pull it out of nowhere ;) Actually I just got frustrated that Massive wouldn't let me automate the sync time of my LFO's. This has been fixed in their latest update... Soooo yeah this tutorial is pretty much useless now (shh!! it's my most popular one!)
I wouldn't say any DAW is better than the rest. It really has more to do with how you prefer to work. I've used everything from FastTracker to Acid to Cubase SX. Right now I've been using Ableton Live. It suits me. You can download a free demo of Ableton Live on their site. Give it a shot, you won't be dissapointed~
This is the best basics tutorial for getting movement out of your Bass tracks on youtube. If you know anything about producing this genre, this is BIG
That's a track called "Skills" I wrote about a year and a half ago. I never really released it for download. I just throw it into my live sets sometimes just to hear the bassline on a really loud system ;)
awesome technique, this vid has really helped me add alot more soul to my basslines. Ive been using another technique where instead of using 3 OSC's you instead change the voicing....but this is much better, thanx mate
listened to the intro for like 7 times, nice! lol .
.,,, but what i came here was to find out how to make automation's with Massive LFO rates... used as a plug-in for fruity loops .. . you know anything about that? =/
I'm even more confused now... None of the LFO's were set to performance mode for this video. It isn't necessary. Maybe he just needs to sync his lfo to the BMP instead of having a "free" lfo rate.
isthejunglebaby: I'm not sure what you're talking about. Can you be more specific? What is the problem with the audio that makes it sound different than what's in the video?
this is good, but one thing i dont get, why do all the lines/waves line up on your massive interface? like all the LFO or filter Env yours are all white lines, clear, mine arent, and i think this may be affecting the sound, am i not switching them on or something???
This is great thanks a lot. Just wondering how you know when you're time time with all your LFOs? Should all them be divisible by 2 or something?

I like it a lot! I'm pretty new to making electronic music and am only semi-familiar with massive. Learned a lot from this :)

@AnodyneIndustries assumptions?... >.< dude maybe you should listen to fidget before you say "fidget spawned from electro house"
fidget always had wobbly basslines..i know u looked at wikipedia for this info.. :/

I am very new to producing so I have a quick question. Massive lets you create sounds but not put them together and actually made a song right?

AK01 you Massive guru.
So you just pulled that up from nowhere? Very nice & I will remember the 3/4 sync'd LFO & switchup between 2LFOs next time I mess with Massive. Also:
the EP is awxesome.

I downloaded massive, but don't get any sound .. :O
and I don't find any guides to help me..
how do I get sound?
please reply
abcdefgdmfgklfd 1 year ago
Um yeah. I'd say you should go out and buy the software instead of pirating it. Believe me, it's worth it.
Also, go buy the software you're using for your DAW. It helps to have a user's manual for stuff if you're just getting started..
AnodyneIndustries 1 year ago
what DAW is the best?
it's very expensive, that's the reason why I try to download it first ^^
thanks for the reply

Exactly! Learning to make a good bassline efficiently goes a long way! especially when you resample THAT and get something even more unique!

u need to set your lfo on performance mode, and then on the left hand side select the different peaks and curves
