These mikes are very versatile and with the correct placement can pick up from several sources. If you want to see the results youtube search * A White Sport Coat (and a Pink Carnation) Plus a Green frog.* For those curious the only recording mike is the CO1U (homemade clip) the microphone I sing into is fed into a guitar amplifier about 4ft behind me (for reverb), the guitar (A Martin DC28E) is played without amplification, the banjo sound comes from my computer speakers about 2ft away.

I saw the SP01 stand on Amazon and was looking round for mics that fit it (There's no real info on the amazon site to that end, very disappointing!) I saw the C01U, realised that was within my price range but again, wasn't able to tell if it was compatible with the stand.

Your video's helped a LOT in telling me the stand is compatible with that mic, and the sound quality seems excellent!

Its a great mic. I use it to record audio and it records in stereo in Sonar LE beautifully. I also have a Samson C03 mic that I hook up through an M-audio Fastrack device and it only records on the left channel, which i easily center. The only thing about this mic, if you record singing, is that you have to set the volume in the windows sound panel where with my C03 mic, I control that volume with my m-audio device plugged into my laptop, which is easier. Can't go wrong with the C01 guys.

Why oh why didn't you use that mic for the entire video voice over? I wanted to hear it and I had to watch the whole video with ugly audio to get to it. I'm thinking of getting a Shure Pg27. In your review this microphone sounds a little muddy in the mids. Not bad for the price, decent for voiceovers etc, but I am not sure would trust it with recording for music and vocals. I think the crispness on the top has been lost. (but that could be filters in whatever program you are using.)

I love your comment on the whole shock mount/mic stand issue. I by no means want to sound patronising, but Its a given that if you buy a shock mount/mic attachment, your going to have to buy a shock mount/mic attachment stand for it to sit upon :), unless of course its within a combo package :)

Bro, you need to help me, make this work on windows 7. I have this mic. I bought this for audio recording. I have a big prob of this. when opening adobe audition, it can't seem to work. when it does the left channel volume is louder than the other. samson needs to release drivers for this mic. i am frustrated.

It stops small vibrations of sound coming through the table and being heard in the background, so it helps to clear the sound up a bit. It also protects the mic very well, ive knocked the stand pretty hard before accidently and it kept it perectly undamaged :) I got mine all together as a podcasting pak!

these ~ 100 buck things, poor man's "studio micss" are available for ~1 decade.

Real studio mics cost a few hundreds to thousands of dollars.

This is not one of them, but decent enough for some hobby music recording, & prefect for speaking.

I like to hear the others voice in skype more close to how it really soundsthan a cheap compu mic can do.

Esp when talking in bed, tired, not willing to put a headset on, this sort of mic pickung up sounds also from some distance, ist just great for that.

ah, I mentiond the availability of ~ 10 ys of these cheap "studi mics" since before that, the market was not flooded like this with these type of mic in cheap china versions, large membrane condensers were not available below several hundred bucks.

But today, "studio mic" doesnt mean the same thing to everyone, hehe ^^

@Pabula Along with audio quality, I wanted to get a mic that looked great, and that fit on my desk. When I purchased this mic back in 2008, the Yeti wasn't out. I have no experience with the Yeti, but I heard that it is also a very good mic.

i currently use a JTS TM-929, that i bought in a mike stand/microphone/cable pack, and it's realyl good, good value too. it's clearly going after SM58 territory. that goes via XLR to my newly acquired M-Audio Delta 1010LT, andi have to say it's pretty damn awesome, i haven't had quaity like that before. whati will say it's a little on the bassy side, but EQ solves that. later i'll be buying a behringer mic, that looks rather like that one
