Signing the ticket is not an admission of guilt. It is advising the court that you will take care of the ticket on or before date stated on the ticket. Take care: meaning paying the fine rwquesting a court appearance in front of a judge. If you dont sign the ticket, you are entitleed to a speedy trial which means you will be arrested. Pretty much it:)
Just for the record, that is not what I was intending; keep in mind, I am referencing NY specifically in my teachings. We do not sign tickets here *except to* enter a plea. Meaning, in PA for example, the motorist is required to sign on the side of the road guaranteeing his *appearance*. Entirely different procedure. And, if you have the option of a trial, which I believe you do in TX (b4 a jury, if that's what you meant), I'd grab it; NY does not afford this.
