@MegaHammer97 these are designed to withstand military activity. they are very strong. i would trust them in highwinds up to around 50mph+. if the pole happened to break you can easily replace with a tree limb. thanks for watching.
@CrittersCanoeing about 5-6 lbs per shelter half. plus a lb for 5 stakes and it takes two halves and ten stakes for a full tent setup or one half and 5 for a lean-to style. not something you want to backpack if worried about weight. my weights are estamations but close i think.
@FixedByDoc about the floor you said you heard that their was a canvas bottom for it have you tried another half shelter? I'm not sure if it will work but its just a thought.
@Theenemy38 actually i tried after this video and it turns out it works perfectly. i think this may be what i had heard of and that there isnt an actual seperate peice who knows but i know own three halves cause it works well. thanks for the idea though.
@marakabi um i forgot to check out sunchokes but will get to it. i prefer hammocks for long treks but if i have a long time in one spot i think it would be nice to have a large canvas tent like the army GP Small or GP 5...
Very interesting hearing your own first hand experiences with a military issued tent. I can see how you would like to keep one around for old time sake, and new uses too. Nice setup options.
I was going to pick up a couple poly tarps the other day, but did not have the size that I wanted. Guess I will re-think my next purchase, these look pretty useful for just a few bucks more.
how does it hold up in very windy conditions? it seems like since it only had to poles with one good gust of wind it would break.

Canvas has lots of advantages when you use open fires ... if only it wasn't so heavy.
