  • I think timing how long it takes the water to travel a known distance down the hull would be easier and more accurate. Or if you knew the distance to the water you could use the field of view of the camera and time it takes to pass from left to right.

  • thats Nerd-Tacular!!

  • W.Beaty, You are a genius. Not really on this video but your other stuff is amazing.

  • Run faster, faster, faster! :D

  • Wow... I never knew these things until you made these videos =)

  • Aww.. your $0 steadicam isn't working(I think)..well for this video... 'cause its kinda shaking and I think it will be better if its not shaking..

  • > 'cause its kinda shaking

It shakes MUCH less than a handheld camera wo/tripod.

ALso, it's only shaking side-to-side! That's the big problem with $0 steadycam. (Go and build a DIY $14 steadycam with weighted crossbeam)

  • I always did this when I was like 7 years old^^

  • My head's gonna' explode...

    That was cool.

  • I thought its pretty obvious. But according to the posts, youtubers do need some education. Nice video even if it wasn't perfect ;)

  • Most navy ships only do about 30 knots. I really don't think this guy could run 10 mph.

  • moron. my dad is in the navy and he says the fastest frigates can clock 45 knots. the harry s truman carrier FULLY LOADED can hit 35 no prob

  • I was stationed on 2 frigates, The Curts and Rodney M. Davis. I was in engineering (Main Propulsion). Your dad is lying to you! A carrier is actually faster than her escorts, nuclear powered ships will go nearly 2X as fast, however, it's not very economical. Plus it's not safe to leave your escorts behind.

  • who said that he was on a navy ship?

looked like a cruise ship to me

  • No one said he was on a Navy ship. It would have been haze gray all over the place. Just making a general statement.

  • > Most navy ships only do about 30 knots.

That's the cruise-ship "Westerdam" slowly tooling along. See my "What color is water?" video for more.

  • my point exactly

  • don't ships on high seas run about 40 knots? 20mph probably for short range ferries?

  • Fake? Yeah, TheGaylard, think about it for a second and you'll know it's not fake.

  • why fake

  • [sarcasm] oh yeah! running ona ship to make it appear as if the water has stopped is totally fake yeah![/sarcasm]

seriously, have you ever gone on the highway and gone next to someone at the same speed as them and made is look like only their wheels were turning and the backround was zipping along?
