Hi great video! this is inspiring. I'm just staring out myself, and I'm just working on my demo now. Could I send you some clips of my work for your opinion? I want to dive in to this business!
fuck... that sux u got laid off. I'm glad your still sticking to your guns and doing your thing and making some money off of it. Seems like such a fun job. hope u get contracted soon bro. :(
I can see the passion you have for this business. And as someone looking to break into the VO field, watching your enthusiasm is truly inspiring. Great video!
hey my thing is putting on voices doing impresions but it seems the bulk of the work is training videos. My natural voice is pritty high pitched and im not sure if its to pleasing on the ear. how then do i get straight to character voice over and avoid having to rely on my generic yet non pleasing natural voice.
can you give specific examples of the type of people you try and get your demo in front of? could you talk more specifically about beginning your networking
Thanks for posting this! My wife and I together with our 4 children are all voice over talents. We somehow managed to rain our eldest how to read scripts. The other children learned from him. Our 15 year old daughter has been doing TV and radiio ads since she was 6 years old. She is now into singing commercial jingles and dubbing soaps to English. What we'd like to do next is to set up our own studio. You studio looks great.
Your story sounds much like mine with regard to giving 20+ years to corporate america, but I haven't yet been able to make a full time living from VO work. Congratulations. This was a very information and entertaining video.
all the fun amazing jobs don't get enough fame... when i say i wanna be a voice actor or an artist, or a cartoonist/animation, i get told i will never find a job in that, that id be better being something boring like a lawyer, i hate that... why cant all jobs be important and good payed and popular.
Nice. I have a very similar set up at home too. Working for clients all over the world sometimes means getting on the mic a 3am, but hey, I can sleep in the next day
Excellent docu - thanks for making it (did u get compensated for that ? ) ha - or is it promotional ? -- Glad you were able to make it work (and I guess your wife works to fill in the 'in-betweens' of income waiting for the next gig ?
@2Bfreeliberty from Brian: Hey, glad you like it! It's a great business all around. My wife actually works part time for a non-profit, so it pretty much falls to me :) There's business to be had out there.
I know a professional actor/presenter and V.O artist and he also does his VO work from home using nothing more than a Zoom H2 sound recorder because the quality is so good for the price.
Hey there neighbor, nice production. I'm over in Williston and just built a "home studio" too. My partner I have considered VO as a part of the big picture package. At the moment I'm recording bands.

Why would you need to shave in the morning? If you're a voice over artist nobody sees you, you could have a 10 foot beard and it wouldn't matter lol

@Colinsz1 Some people still have self respect even though they are self-employed.

Fascinating video and it must be great to be able to work from home. Certainly cuts down on the commuting costs.
I wouldn't mind having a go at Voice Over work myself.

How much can you get paid for a small script, say 1/3 of a page?
