For all peeps interested in this game read RIFT FORUMS "GENERAL SECTION" before you waste your money!!! Do Not be sucked in by this "hype" - Rift sux, it is full of WoW flunkies, care-bears and childish man-boys who cry and moan about everything from "plate bikini's" and "moor boobs" - 3 to 4 hour ques just to get ON your server, then you find your toon DELETED...gone. Talents trees , gameplay , difficulty on normal instances , you need teamwork for everything! All Classes are balanced!!! This is one of THE BEST MMO-RPG! World of warcraft is for kids at the moment. First of all, wow wasn't the first mmorpg. Meridian 59 was, and that came out around 16 years ago.

Wow came out 7 years ago.

Second of all, practically all modern mmorpgs are based on WoW.

Why? WoW is the most successful mmorpg, monetarily wise.

So if they want to make a successful mmorpg, most companies base their game off of WoW, and try to add things not in the prior game, and flaunt them to advertise, and hopefully gain more players.

People call them WoW clones for a reason.

because people actually still like the tolkein-style fantasy MMO, its just that so few games actually get it right, that they keep remaking and saturating the market with crap fantasy MMO's that fail to bring anything new.

And they have made "realistic MMOs"- except you dont hear much about them, because most arent that good- Fallen Earth, Hellgate London, ect. In general: 90% of MMO's are not fun at all...very rarely does a WoW, Guild Wars, or EVE come along
