Great video Moose ;-) So I've got a swimjet installed that is lower then my skimmers..the pipes run up to a pump which is above ground. Should I lower the pool water level below the swimjet? It will drop my water level about 2 1/2 feet.

Well, you are going to have to blow out and plug that line and winterize that pump one way or another. There are a lot of new swimjets out there, so not quite sure which type you have, but regardless, you should be able to remove the front jet-part of that jet exposing the water feed pipe to that jet. Once you have done that, you can simply blow out and plug that line like you would a regular return jet. I would not recommend leaving the pool water down 2.5 feet all winter. Dan (moose)

I bought a house with an in ground pool a couple months ago. We never opened it. The water looked 75% clear from the former owner throwing a couple packs of shock in it, I'm assuming. I have never owned/maintained a pool before. Would it be beneficial to drain the pool and clean it or not mess with it till next season? It is just sitting there, with green water, and the pump is turned off. Please help.

i would wait till next season, if i were you. just make sure that anything that could possibly feeze over the winter has been drained and/or blown out so that you do not get any cracking in the pipes, jets, pump, filter, etc. - if in doubt about how to do that - or check that - i would have a local pool guy come and winterize it for you just to make sure. then i would deal with the green pool issues next season. thanks for watching - dan

I'd make sure the water was balanced, the water is drained 8" below the skimmers (rain/snow melt water will make it rise thru the winter) and that it has a fresh shot of algaecide. I'd leave it alone (provided it was winterized properly) and open it in the Spring.

Poolandspamoose: how much psi should I set the compressor to? i can set my psi air pressure. I am wondering what is the recommended psi going thru the pvc pipes?

if it is variable, i would set is to between 80 and 100 psi. there is really very little back-pressure when blowing out pool pipes, so you really don't have to kill with it. hope this helps. thanks for watching. dan

can you tell me what psi compressor are you using?

2 hp continuous air, so it probably puts out about 100 psi max, from what i am told. dan

Can you tell me what kind of "nipple" is on the end of the airline? I can not tell what it looks like. Is there something rubber on the end of it?

at the end of the compressor hose is a standard 1/4 inch fitting that you can thread into the drain plug of most pumps to blow out the lines. hope this helps and thanks for watching ! dan
