  • nice burnout! i sent you a video response. is that your turbo coup?

  • I can do a better "brake stand" with a Smart car... Burn outs don't include standing on the brakes and overheating the Torque Converter.

  • Two things you can't get anymore that you want! Rear drive and a stick!

  • sounds like the car was cold how the boost was cutting out in second gear. my tc does that shit

  • @saddivine nope. wasn't cold. This problem persisted for only a week then randomly stopped.

  • What exhaust are you running?

  • @twistedwish20 2.5" dual aluminum steel piping with glasspacks.

  • dope look. hope you still have it.

  • @PlayHiFi I do currently its my project car

  • I used to do this with my mom's Aerostar back in 92

  • Ford was riding the wave on this one. It was one of the better looking cars and many today follow the same design lines as in the Monte Carlo or racey Honda (wahteva the hell it is cvcc). I know of one of these with the small v8 (4.6?) with a big turbo tucked in there that was black flagged from New England Dragway for being too fast without the necessary safety gear (like a parachute)! A 10 second sleeper... Great Car.

  • You did a beautiful job. How many miles do you have on it?

  • @EliteLX the Turbo Coupe is a better platform to build from than a 5.0L Foxbody. I know I've owned both. I race a SCCA IPA LX coupe mustang, the TC has 49 51 weight bias, stops better, has a much better drag coefficient and overall looks better.

  • @EliteLX Sorry but your getting off track. The fat remark was irrelevant, however those scales are so out to lunch!!! Stock turbo coupes from 87-88 came fully optioned weighing 3415 with a 5spd and 3419 with the AOD automatic. Your wrong I'm right. End of discussion

  • I have 88' 5.0 no mods, fuel injected. Is there any way of bypassing all that and going with a 427 carburated. If I do all that turbo or supercharged.

  • good looking turbo coupe...i had an 89, last year they made them...it was any automatic, but i put a 5spd T5 out of a mustang in it...it was one best cars i have ever owned...mine looked dead up how yours does...no, rust or dints..and no tears or burns in the seats or inside...mine was the champaine(sp?) gold color...and 17inch cobra Rs...and put down 265 to the wheels on the dyno, with 298lb tourqe...but yea yours is clean...what kind of numbers does it have...

  • @enjoin2f If it was a 89 then it was a super coupe and that was the first year they made those.

  • That model still looks good now.

  • a T4 would be better suited with 60's or maybe 79's if you keep the boost high

it's no wonder you fried it.

  • I see you have a nice build list, but what are you doing as far as computer tuning? MS, QuarterHorse, Pimp? Remember, you have to balance air flow with fuel, 30psi with the t4 and 42's was WAY too lean, plus the stock computer is kinda skechy operating the 42's. I would invest in a GOOD Wideband setup and fuel pressure gauge if you havnt already.

Not trying to bash what your doing, just dont want to see you destroy a nice motor in a really nice car.

  • LOVE the stock wheels for that car.

  • I love how people think burnouts are so impresive. Big deal, you can make the tire spin while the car is sitting still, i can do that in a go kart. Nice sounding cams, nice paint jobs, clean custom jobs.etc.etc....mean more than just redlining your 4cyl to make some tire smoke.

  • @brobinson75 Great, now go post that on the other 2.5 million videos of little 4 bangers spinning their tires, you must really hate youtube.

  • @StopTheMelting it's amazing the reactions that some comments get. Ya, that's what I meant is I hate youtube.

  • @brobinson75 This is a very clean car and oh by the ways these cars would hand it to stock 5.0's in the day

  • @1999sebring well in this cars best year it made 205 horse, the 5.0 makes 220 hp.

  • @1999sebring being an owner of both, no it would'nt.. my 88 turbocoupe weighed 4400lbs fully optioned and made 190hp stock. an 88GT weighs 3400lbs and makes 220hp. Huge difference in performance. Now the 86 SVO (last year they made them) would keep pace with a 5.0 stock VS stock.

  • @EliteLX your a fucking idiot. no turbo coupe weighed that much unless your fat ass weighs 800 pounds and was sitting on some broken ass scale. mine was 3450 without me in it

  • @StopTheMelting The scale at Englishtown New Jersey doesnt Lie! I weighed about 155lbs when I had that car. I also had the fully optioned model with power everything. Seats weighed close to 100lbs each. I appreciate your inability to label me as a fat guy though LOL Another typical youtube tuffguy attitude, shits old kid.

  • @1999sebring i walked a few rat bagged 5.0'S around here. destroyed some early 4.6's to

  • spoiled rich kids

  • keep your exhaust temp under 1000 degrees and use a big apexi blow off valve and it'll go 120,000 + miles without headgasket burn thru . I had three at once on the road 83 85 88 and they were all consistant 12 second cars on stock motors with a ported top end and custom t-4 t-4 hybrids 13 blade spool from a mid 80's saab 900 and 85 non-intercooled t/c 2.5" inlet fan , stock injectors @ 55 psi at idle 9 degree's timing. At 25 psi you could launch the car in second, gear no power braking required

  • make sure you've got a turbo block sitting in the garage because they are made of a different grade of cast iron than the standard 2.3 block and doesn't have the oil return port threaded, it's just a blank boss.

  • @7seriesmax

Its a seasoned turbo block, thanks though.

  • and it still only runs a 14 in the quarter lol!

  • Damn I want that car.

  • Nice looking clean car... Keep it that way... Not many of those around...Don't be a douchebag and ruin it.

  • @scott93257 strapped a T4 turbo set-up with tubular header on it and ran it at 30PSI with 42lb injectors and fried the thing after 6 months and that was with 200,000 Miles on the motor. wasn't much stuff on the street that gave me much trouble though. i've got a 2.3L block with Crower rods, 8.1.1 forged pistons and Billet Crank sitting in the garage that will be going in with a precision 6262 turbo

  • @StopTheMelting

WOW!!!!!...Nice. Yeah those motors can take a beating and to run like THAT with that much boost and 200k miles? that really says a lot about Ford engineering... Incredible!!... Can't wait to see that modded 2.3 go in there...That is going to be screamin!!!!

Thanks for the reply with the car's stats :)

  • @StopTheMelting my 2nd car was an 88 turbocoupe. ported the head and exhaust manifold, had a custom grind cam, built garret turbo by Turbonetics before they were even well known, Saab front mount intercooler, 3 inch exhaust. Car ran low 14's @ 25lbs of boost. I decided one day to run 30lbs of boost and bent some rods. Was a fun car to drive. Not really fast after all the work but, turbo's tingle all your senses at once. Nice car man... Lookup volvo twin cam head setups Turbocoupes/SVO on here.

  • Sounds like it was missin a bit at :12

  • Nice car. I'll be in the market for a 88 TC in a few months. Hows the gas milage in your TC?

  • @CVTaxi

great gas miledge on the freeway, in the city its alright. averaged 35-37MPG driving across montana with luggage two passengers and the AC on at 65 MPH

  • very sweet...gotta respect a 2.3 turbo 4 that can do that in a 3400 pound car!!!!i know i have a 87 tc and love it.

  • i always loved thunderbirds.. thing should have an SVT cobra engine in it.. now that would be sweet

  • At the time that was a pretty damn good car.. Nice looking too.

  • damm that was nice. it is a ford after all ;)

  • clean bird

  • I'm diggin it and don't let anybody tell ya different

  • That's a nice clean looking classic! This and the Mustang SVO are just a couple of cars from the 80's that I would have loved the chance to drive/own. Really ahead of their time back then.

  • cmon... all those trollers who claim this sucks... i bet they drive their moms honda or granpas nissan :D

  • who gives a fuck about all the shitty comments. Your turbo coupe is awesome dude clean ride! Thumbs up!

  • lolling @ youtubers

  • both yall fags are douchebags!! yall sound like ur married... Fucking KILL YOURSELVES!!!!

  • @mchasedavenport

    Fuck you

  • @88boyce.. Sounds like you are trying to be mean.. And don't forget you are the one that pushed this out of hand... You coulda just shrugged off the douchbag comment I made to you and taken the compliment for your car because you are right I don't know you.. I don't know if you are a douchebag and never really said you were and it was a joke not admonishment but you got very pissed so sorry damn.. why say corvettes are gay? C4's were amazing for their time.. Don't attack the car attack the owner

  • not to be mean but you look like a douchebag... but ur tbird is cool

  • @bighunt08

i was 17 years old, all 17 year old kids are douchebags, unfortunately for you your a 21 year old douchebag that likes c4 corvettes, what a shame.

  • @StopTheMelting I was merely stating opinion and asking at no offense intention to you how does that make me a douchebag?.. Because I like my old yet corvette that us prolly faster than ur boosted tbird?... I was never trying to offend you but you went on the ape offensive!.. You got offended because someone stated that you wear/wore douchebag clothing?!

  • @bighunt08 and I merely stated mine. some douchebag loser such as yourself poking the bear with the stick trying to play off like your comment actually retains anything. if you've got nothing nice to say keep it to yourself, didnt your mother teach you that one or were you to busy running around the house playing with your little c4 vette hotwheels, Your the one who went on the "ape offence", im wearing a T-shirt for fuck sakes, would you rather have me wear a dress? your a c4 loving fuck goof.

  • @StopTheMelting.. All I did was make fun of the clothes you wore in this video then complimented your car.. And then you come back all pissed off like some kid in a sandbox that just lost his toy.. So you say you're not a douchebag fine, whatever.. If you can't be willing to laugh at yourself every now and then what kind of a person does that make you?.. For the record now I really do think you are a douche.....

  • @bighunt08

Your an idiot. you can see the top third of a black t-shirt whats wrong with my top third of my t shirt, you cant even see what the fuck I'm wearing in this video im sitting in a car doing a burnout then driving away. are you sure your commenting on the right video?

  • @StopTheMelting.. I never said that YOU were a douchebag I said that it was how you seemed to present from the angle to posture to how clothes were set upon your person.. I also didn't expect you (or anyone on this subject) to overeact in this manner... All I said was eh this guy kinda looks like a douche but his car is sweet then BOOM! I never intended to have to have some clothing argument on a car vid but you were determined to prove yourself and persist arguing so I can't back down either.

  • @bighunt08 This video is about a car. Why are you even commenting on his clothing? Are you gay or trying to be the fashion police? Get a life loser his car is badass and clean as fuck.

  • @1fsthyundaisonata1.. Have you read anything that I said?.. Why are you sticking your nose in this?.. I'm sure he can defend himself.. Or not.. And before you call somebody a loser why don't you read your own username.. Mr.Sonata.. I don't care what he's wearing it was a joke poke of fun that he took way to seriously.. Before you jump into a conversation your feeble little mind can barely understand why don't you think twice huh..

  • SICK car. Love the color.

  • That brings back memories. I had a 1988 Turbo Coupe and a 1987 TC. The '88 was black with a 5-speed and the '87 was grey metallic w/5-speed. Those are amazing cars. The Automatic Ride Control is fascinating. Does yours still have it? I miss my TC's. I will have another one some day.

  • nice bird

  • you have a beautiful car there

  • Damn I wish I had the turbo coupe. Mine's just the 5.0

  • That thing is fresh dude lovin it

  • Is this car stock??

  • ya, not anymore

  • @StopTheMelting lol i got my motor for my stang from a 88 turbo coupe

  • @JediOfTheEarth I'm sure that's a stock 351W, just look at the performance of the vehicle. That's still a beautiful daily driver and the body is perfect!

  • dude that bird is gorgeous mad props

  • I hear some misfire :(

  • @blown4six

    that aint misfire.

  • @StopTheMelting

What was that then after you hit 2nd gear after the burnout?

  • @blown4six ever heard of a rev limiter?

  • @BEEMERFAN79

Dude the misfire was at like 2.5-3k rpm, listen to it.. Thats no revlimiter lmao. I'm not making fun of him, its a nice car and sounds cool.. i just pointed out the misfire...

  • @blown4six ahh, you mean at 0:13 ? Yeah, sounds like misfire to me too.

  • @blown4six

one of the plugs was spitting. it came and went tell I changed them.

  • really nice t-bird, i have the same turbo coupe except mines silver and has a spoiler. Ive been fixing it up for the last month. Its worth it though, i payed $300 for it. With it being all stock it still does a hell of a burnout.

  • whats are your mods!!?!?!?!??!???!! i know mines just stock, but it will barely spin the tires.

  • LOVE T-BIRDS THIS MY BE THE RESON WHY STYLE AND POWER BEAUTIFUL CAR BRO

  • nice bird are those cobra rims

  • sweet bra i have an 88

  • nice turbo coupe. i love em'. 1987 turbocoupe owner- 28 psi intercooled 265 cam running 360 rwh. no replacement for displacement my ass

  • @mrbbqking run 28psi boost on a 5.0 V8 and itll smoke. Bigger engine just = more power, doesnt mean tuning cant compare but its just easier to get more power out of a bigger engine.

  • @DystruktoBoi1 That's why building a quick one of these is so much more rewarding. I had an 1987 5.0 LX that I changed to a carburetor with Eldebrock Preformer cam, intake, and carburetor. The heads were off a 1968 302 Mustang It also had a C-4 and BBk shorty headers. Then I found an 88 TC. It was an automatic (which I quickly removed) and had a boost controller, Cold air, super chip, and a 3 inch exhaust. I bought it and to my dismay it was faster then my 5.0. Still surprises me.

  • @Rivethead109 That your Bird was faster than your stang doesnt surprise me....my old 86' TC was/is faster than most stock 5.0's out there....mine was a 5 speed, Cold a/c,30mpg, and was hella fast!! Previous owner said all he did to it was CAI. Miss it, but oh well.

  • Beauty, powerful, fast and cheap, what else can we need

  • 88 turdo 5.0 v8 sorry, a be careful out there

  • hey bro, please tell me what kind of wheels and where you got them :) thanks

  • Cobra R 4 bolt's. 17x9.

  • what kind of rims

  • Cobra R 4 bolts. 17x9.

  • Sorry but one more question, where did you get them? i am getting an 88 turbo bird and i want those wheels lol

  • Nice t-bird. I always thought they looked much better than the foxbody mustangs made back then... i'm still not sure if thats a compliment or not. lol

  • s-h-i-t what's that spell? turbo coupe.

  • your an uneducated dumb fuck.car of the year in 87, and for good reason to. stopped as good as a Porsche back in 87 from 60mph to dead stop. Come summer time that piece of shit will walk anything you've ever owned.

My old man has 300,000 miles on an 87 TC still has original Turbo boosting 17PSI on top of that it still has the original Master cylinder, even the brake calipers are still original. And it still waxes 01 BMW M3's from a light every time.

  • it's a piece of shit i got a 85 ford thunderbird v8 blow that piece of shit turbo 6 out of the water

  • By the way im running in the 12's next summer on a boosted turbo 4 so good luck keeping up with anything you got... By the way your 85 tbird v8 shares the same platform as my car, except my car is balanced 49/51, thicker sway bars, electronically controlled damping suspension, which in turn pulls more on a skid pad than your v8 tbird ever would.

  • TUNING

    The best replacement for displacement!

  • @23027 no Replacement for big block Displacement

    AKA cid

  • o there is...

  • Tuning IS the replacement for displacement fooooooool

  • @atlantasinglemales boost. i defied you. lol

  • rob zombie.....you sir, are a dumbass.

  • na just don't like turbo shits

  • oic

  • its a 6cylinder.....

  • @StopTheMelting Its a 4 cylinder, they didnt make a v6 turbo coupe

  • I am mocking tbirdsport.....I am well aware of that believe me...

  • Oh lol, sorry bout that. Btw, i am a fellow turbo coupe owner. LONG LIVE THE 2.3L TURBO!!!

  • @wolfdog1987 No but they made a V6 super coupe.

  • @MrMercLover Yea i know, my brother has one. They didnt start till the next bodystyle though. They are also pretty badass for a v6, i was really impressed.

  • @wolfdog1987 how about you google that, because they did, i believe its a 3.8L supercharged, not turbo,

  • @shockeyshock How about you reread what i wrote. It was a SUPER coupe, aka, supercharged thunderbird coupe. They used an Eaton M90 supercharger on it.

  • 2.3 right?

  • 2.3 Pinto turbo, intake, exhaust 17psi boost controller.

  • nice

  • damn no prob spinnin tires. i got a 97 regal gs. gotta love the sleepers =D

  • yeap, this one was my first ever attempt of a burnout. Did it when i was 17. Turned out pretty good actually considering its basically stock. To bad i dont have a video of the slicks i burned off with that car. minute straight slow moving brake stand, left two black lines nearly an 8th mile long.

  • keep up the good work. im still learning to do a burnout in my 01 sunfire GT. i mean its easy, but i really shouldnt have to do it in reverse, thats kinda lame lol.

  • my thunder bird has a lfittle engine tick only at about 2000 to 3000 rpm. you can really only notice when it get up to temp. any suggestions?

  • run thicker oil it might help

  • Exhaust manifold leak?

  • are you going to use the stinger header? and you might as well use a 2.5 crank if you are going to do all that engine work.

  • that is one very mean looking t bird! awesome video!

  • awesome

have u tryed taking of in 2nd?

    stops the slippin a lot

  • what times on 1/4mile?

  • i ran 15.5 slipping through first.

  • I hear those get like 40 mpgs, is this true?? Its a beuty btw and I am hard pressed to find one .

  • i averaged 38mpg going across Montana with three people + luggage driving at 70-75mph

  • try to keep your thunderbird running theyre are great old cars most people just toss them out

  • Currently getting rebuilt at the moment. Should be a complete animal once its back and tuned. Going with full Stand alone fuel management, MSD distributorless ignition, t4 turbo, external wastegate, .030 over, 8:1 comp forged pistons, stage 3 roller cam full head port/polish. the whole nine yards, all in due time of course.

  • it might get better gas milage but if i were you id get a 1985 302 they are easier to find plus the 302 parts are plentiful unlike the 2.3

  • I hear u, nothin like an 8 to smoke up some tires, but I live in Ga bro,lol i do about 40-50 miles a day. , btw rob zombie is a dam good movie maker!!!!!

  • i got one siting on my back porch couldnt keep the car had to many so i kept the engine its been siting for about two years but been coverd and i would ounce in a while turn it it had 55000 miles when i got it the tranny was slipping and needed a rebuild wish i still had her im looking for a 99 sho v8 but would sell for the right price

  • Is it black or dark blue??

  • Dark blue

  • Love the color, is it original? do you then have a blue interrior?

  • yeap original color and matching dark blue interior.

  • so that just a little 4 cylinder turbo lol nasty how much hp stock

  • 190hp stock, 240ft of torque. In this video it was boosting 17PSI over stock 12.

  • holy shit thats alot of torque

  • dis car kinda reminds me of a foxbody

  • It's built on the same platform :)

  • it is a fox body.

  • what size turbo do the TC's have?

  • 83-86 T3 Garrett style. 87-88 used a smaller quicker spooling smaller IHI turbo with a Top Mount IC.

  • do you have any engine upgrades or new motor

  • stock in that video. just intake and exhaust

  • that was with 360,000 Km's on it to.

  • That's a nice bird.

Out of the 80's Thunderbirds, the turbo coupes are dope.

But I think when the new era, changing to the '89 and so on was a really good choice.

All of those birds are sweet

  • The 87s and 88s were awesome looking they should have kept thier style instead of moving to that beefier bird

  • Why didn't ford take this car to the next level and just let svt have their way with it? Were they afrid of losing Stang sales or somthin

  • Yes actually. The same reason the SHO was powered down. So they didn't have a family car beating down their "muscle" car.

  • I'm sorry 2 doors are not family cars!!! They are to beastly and look to good for that!!!

  • Personal opinion. Faminly car does not mean coupe or 4 doors. Ford makes a 2 door escort as an example. :)

  • This is true. I just could never call a t-bird a family car.

  • yeah your right dan that just degrades the t-bird

  • Yup. I used to have an '86 Cougar XR-7 that was the 2.3L turbo & 5sp. combo. It was a bit "rough" when I got it, and I ended up throwning the clutch out of it, but I sure do miss it.

  • A lot of wrong info here....

hermes124 - 02 GT is a 2 valve. 2 Valves do well with mods, and will stock for stock a 2valve will smoke a 5.0 anyday.

DrEvil7378 -There wasnt an 02 cobra(only in australia) and they werent SC til 03

  • indeed. 99-01 was the naturally aspirated 305 horsepower SVT. Then the SVT Cobra R in 2000 which only 300 were made with the 389 horsepower or 385 5.4, then in 03 the supercharged 4.6 Cobra came and the Mercury Marauder used the un-supercharged motor.

Anyway, nice video, looks and sounds good

  • at least they were good and sticky when he hit that turn.lolzzzzzzzzzz

  • my jeep cj5 has the same engine. needs to be rebuilt, but still makes all 32 pounds of boost.

  • Ill be getting a new video up within the next few weeks.

  • haha i have an 88 i want those cobra r wheels sooo bad
