Cannot believe how far his club head is from the ball at address... (0:22)...easily half a meter away. Don't think I've ever seen anyone else do that, ever.
@emems87 actually he is probably one of the straightest hitters the game has ever seen; it ain't pretty and it aint orthodox, but nobody can hit the ball like norman (well maybe hogan can).
I tried to replicate the move done by Mr. Norman between 1 min 23 seconds and 1 min 26 seconds in the video. How can he place his left wrist 90 degrees down while facing the ball at the same time. It looks like his hip pivot put him in that position and then hi just use his right elbow joint to complete the follow through. Any thoughts?
Moe really drops his right shoulder. Whenever I do this I ground the club about 4 inches behind the ball. The thing that Moe also does is keep his extended almost completely parallel with the shaft of the club. Maybe this is what allows him to move his right should down as far as he does.
It's alot more fun to be in the fairway. But when Moe was younger he could hit it around 280-300 yards consistenly and straight. 98% of the PGA pros cannot say that....
He grips the club in the palms instead of the fingers which is being taught nowadays. Moe hit it average distance wise, he did however hit every shot dead straight with no curvature which is why he is considered the best ballstriker the world has ever seen along with Ben Hogan. He is also pretty old in most of the vids on youtube when he was younger he had a longer swing.
@LordViperScorpion yeah i just read that moe was known for hitting the cleanest shots ever. a really odd swinging style i have to say. never seen it before, when hockey was my game you could se it more often, but in golf no... dont get me wrong there, its an ugly swing.. but when you read about it and watch the vids, its a kind of impressive and cool.. i might try it=)
that's the beauty of golf. no right or wrong. One of the "ugliest" swings was controlled by one of the best ball strikers ever in the game. funny how that works ay
mark his hands at the star of the still frame and look where they are at impact this is driver and yep he has a forward leaning shaft , you want to compress it to the max master this forward leaning of the shaft at impact history's best have done this tiger too, and i have a great lessons on it at hitmanhawky check it out and let me know what you think and thanks this is a very good video by the way
He benefits from a shorter than normal upper body and longer legs in disproportion.

His right arm is dominant in the swing. I heard him say that in a clip and I went out and tried it. It works Takes a little getting used to though.

give him credit for having his own swing not just copying someone elses. Played on the tour which none of u haters can say.

If that ball was any further away moe would need to get his binos out.

that is strange, does he have an orthodox grip? I assume he wasn't a long hitter with that style

Nice stuff. Too bad they didn't have "CBS SwingVision" back then to capture more frames of his swing. Thanks for posting.

it might have worked, but its a really ugly swing

@rockbox86 doesn't matter what it looks like you could have the prettiest swing in the world and still not get the impact right.
