Yeah I love having a helmet cam, I take it with the head strap on holidays with me ... Got heaps of footage of things like, bungy jumps, luge rides, etc. Lots of fun!!
I would definitely look at the GoPro HD if I was buying one now though, it has a few nice features and records HD video.
Whereabouts in Queenstown do you think would be best to get a helmet cam from? I'm heading back to Queenstown June 2011 and would love to get a cam

good video do you find that the wide angle distorts the image? how many degrees is it?

Yeah it does distort the image a little bit, but it's not very noticeable. Mainly things just look a little smaller than in real.
I believe the ability to see more of the action up close and the the reduced vibration of the image is worth it though.
