  • bonanza

  • I found this song in a book- the knife of never letting go.

  • It may go back earlier than many of you think. It was used a couple of times on the show Bonanza. You know, with Hoss, little Joe, etc.

  • wasn´t it in a buffy episode???

  • With his clear voice, I can SO see this as Ben singing this to Todd...

(Only seriously avid readers will get the reference I'm afraid...)

  • @sugarpunch18 ikr like in book 1 and 3 really good books

  • @226Nico Oh yeah. *nods vigorously*

  • @sugarpunch18 Love that trilogy so so much <3

  • @LukasoftheSky Oh good, so it ain't just me! :D

  • @sugarpunch18 Course not :P I wish more people knew about it though. It should be printed in gold :L

  • Very good!!!

  • I like this version, because - unlike so many of the others out there - this one captures the sadness of the song... The modern twist to it just makes it that much more amazing. I've fallen in love with this ditty all over again.

It's from the Rennaissance period in history :)

  • Liz Montgomery sang it too in an episode of Bewitched, while playing the lute.

  • I like this version... it's kinda psychedelic... I'll save it among my favourites.

  • Wikipedia says it came from around 1803 In England

  • BUFFY 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am singing this for a solo at Miami, Oklahoma for NEO Competitions :)

  • The more I hear, the more I like this guy. He understands the traditional material and interprets it well. Particularly like the backing instrumentation, with the suggestion of a hurdy-gurdy.

  • my chior is singing this.

  • ok i've found this song from buffy, and fell in love with it instantly, but i have one question, Who sang this song really ? , i mean the first one.

  • It's a folk song.

  • @DangerYourselfCopies oh so there's no real singer to it, well thanks alot . :D

  • @jigzeus

i google the song all i can find out is who wrote it

william chappell between 1855 - 1859 no mention of who first sung it..but i believe he might have been the first singer back then they used to sing there own songs

  • @jigzeus yep: just like Spike said in a Buffy episode... it's an old folk ditty.

  • did you know that this is an english folk song

  • Who me? Of course

  • Strong

  • Ah the song that made spike go insane for a few episodes of buffy the vampire slayer.

  • ah a fan of the show.the main reason i looked for this song.wanted to hear all of it

  • another Hymn tune?

  • Yes, i know it's a folk tune in the first place, just cracks me up that this and Sweet England are both hymns as well. Very Westlife in the singing and the strings (you could take that both ways) but also kind of gothic towards the end. I think it'll take me a while to get into this one...

  • westlife...haa
