@LaughingWithSkittles bepanthen is awesome! We use it here in new zealand aswell however we use the blue tube not the baby nappy cream one lol its just the antiseptic cream with vitamin b5 :)

I JUST GOT MY FIRST TATOO 2 DAYS AGO (well 3 tattoos one on my back one on my wrist nd one on my arm) i been using A+D ointment FOR IT WHEN SHOULD I SWITCH TO THE LOTION AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD I APPLY IT ALSO IS IT NORMAL FOR IT TO FEEL "tight" AS IF MY SKIN IS BEING PULLED?
its been 3 days since ive gotten my tattoo..do i just stop using the aquaphor and use tha lotion ?cause i keep getting the ointment all over my sheets and stuff when i sleep&on my clothes.do i just apply lotion when i feel that its getting dry?
I have to use H2Ocean tattoo products when mine are healing. Everything else breaks me out, aggravates the new tattoo, and swells it up. I have hard to heal skin. :( Which makes getting tattoos a pain in the ass, but they're worth it.
There are several "right" ways to heal a tattoo but it's kind of weird that no one really mentions using hot water to wash your tattoo. A lot of people tell you NOT to do that (like in this video). I recomend it to everyone Ive tattooed after a friend of mine told me to try it after he tattooed me. Cuts the healing time in half practically and it wont get scabby at all. It hurts A LOT but its well worth it. Everyone I recomend it to is pretty amazed at how fast/easy they healed up. Check it out
u noe Vaseline, or its called petroleum jelly or something, ive been using that but this is my second day so i stopped using it, im just letting it get some air, and after the tattoo the artist put seran wrap on it and i took it off 10 minutes after i got the tattoo. now its just dried up and some areas are peeling. so i dont noe, some people say use the jelly/Vaseline some say do not, can you tell what ointment i should use? or if i should just leave it alone.
@TGKKiddKidd yea now its good,it was ok nothing was wrong with it,i just didn't know how it was supposed to look, but i just washed it when i got home then i put Vaseline for the first day, then i just let it do its thing,it looks good. its the scabbing and peeling part that freaked me out,i thought it was infected lol but its a part of the process, nothing to worry about like i did. :)
i had a tattoo done 2 days ago on my foot. im on my feet all day at work and at the moment im wearing sandles to let it breath but the man said something about keeping it covered so it doesnt get dirty and also, im hearing different stories from everyone! do i keep it covered to prevent dirt or keep it open to let it breath and heal? hope you can help me because i am so confused !!! :)
I just got my tattoo a week ago and I got it on my inner arm, close to the pit of my arm . And I've been working outside a lot and have to cover it up, but I don't want to peel of anything. I'm a guy as well so it's a little more difficult. Should I use a band aid to cover it up? Will it affect it? Also, I'm using Aquaphor as of right now, should I stop now and switch to a lotion??? Please answer.
I got my first tattoo today, on my forearm! And I've been scouring the net for care information. Thanks a bunch for all the helpful info! I got some aquaphor from a girlfriend of mine, and I'm really glad to see videos on youtube of people hailing it's ability to preserve the art!
thanks for all the advice! I have one question tho. I got my first tattoo yesterday, and unfortunately my managers at my job prefer that I cover it up. It's a small one on my upper forearm, so I was thinking of wearing a band or something..but I hear you shouldn't cover it? How long should I wait? If I were to cover it, even if with a band-aid or something, what damage would that do?
I recommend Cetaphil. Its a whole line of stuff.Anti bacterial and fregrance free soaps and free of anything lotions. They have sunblock too and face soaps. This stuff alone, without using any meds even cured my Acne which was bad back in the day.Google it -> Cetaphil.
i got my tattoo today and i cleaned it and allover i just want to sleep now and i dont know wt to do really to not stick to the sheet ! any help ? and tomorrow when i want to wear clothes wt should i do ??? it is on my lower back .. plz help
I got my tattoo done on my wrist towards the end of May. I just got it retouched two days ago because it faded in some places. I take hot showers but I was extremely careful (and successful) in not getting my tattoo wet. Is it bad if that my tattoo was in a hot shower though?
My artist was an arse. He was very informal and rude, in the perverted kind of way.
He didn't tell me much about caring for it just that I should keep the kitchin roll (which is what he used to cover it up) on for an hour then I can take it off.
So I assumed when he said it would scab that I'd have to moisturise a lot. So I put lotion on several times a day and on the third day found out from a friend I had to disinfect it.
It's started to scab now. I think I'll keep on top of it now.
Question: I got my tattoo 14 days ago and I actually did all the things u mentioned like I was so careful with it and took care of it but I think there is one part that looks kinda faded, like I don't know maybe part of the ink came off or something and it looked weird from day 1 but I thought it was probably cause it needed to heal, so do u think it's permanent and was a mistake or should I wait more
Hey. Nice video. I'm now in week 2 of the healing process. It's shiny and and wrinkled and I know this is perfectly normal. But I do wonder about how many times I should put on Tattoo Goo every day? I wash it with soap and water two times pr day, and the lotion pretty much every 2-3 hours. Is that too much? I\m just afraid that it will dry out if I don't. I also wrap it in every night when I go to bed.
Hi i just got my first tattoo about 6 days ago and i totally messed up the first 2 days because i put vaseline then i finally got A & D ointment, but should i stop using the A & D ointment or keep using it, cause now my tattoo is starting look like it's scabbing/cracking or getting very worried.
You should only use A&D for the first couple of days....switch to an unscented lotion. Some of my tattoos have scabbed too, it's no big deal and it should heal normally as long as you don't pick the scab. There are some areas that are more prone to scabbing than others. If you are really worried though, visit your artist and ask him to check it out but i'm sure it's fine!
to be honest, i usually don't cover mine when i sleep although the down side to that is that it has permanently ruined a few pairs of sheets and a comforter...if you wish to cover it at night, put a thing layer of ointment on your tattoo (aquaphor or a&d will work) and wrap the tattoo in cellophane. If you wrap it like this at night, your tattoo will heal significantly faster (about 4 days) and will not scab.
Cool thanks for the reply, I was covering it for the first 2 nights with cellophane but in the morning i was getting a sort or jellified version of the tattoo on top that had to be washed off i was worrying that this was drawing out the ink, is that normal??
lol, yes it is normal for some ink to come out initially and the "jellified" thing you are describing is ink mixed with plasma/blood...yummm. it sounds like you are taking good care of your new tattoo so don't worry!
I have a question. how often do I have to wash my tattoo during the first week? the thing is I'm getting my first tattoo in two weeks, one week later I'm going to california on kind of a trip with camping half time of it. so the first week I will be at home and I heard I should wash it 3 times a day. which wont be a problem. But I wont be able to wash it that often during the second week, maybe 2 a day, would that be enough?
You will need to wash it like 2 times a day for the first 4-5 days. After that, once a day will be fine. Over-washing or over-moisturizing your tattoo are both not good, although you do want to make sure you are applying lotion/ointment as necessary so your tattoo doesn't crack or scab. Also, if you plan on being outside a lot during your trip you should cover your tattoo or use sunscreen. It may not be healed enough at that point in time to use sunscreen so covering it may be a better option :)
You should do a video showing your tattoos and the meaning behind them. Cause I really cant make out all of the tat u have on ur arm so I wanna see it! lol Thanks! ;D
Maybe I will make one, but it would involve me exposing some tattoos that are NOT quality lol....As for my arm, it's not even close to being finished yet but the outline is of an octopus holding a stuffed rabbit in a field of poppy flowers.
Hey. I have a question. Um, I have this skin thing and it's called Becker's Nevus (if you wanna check it out) and... it kinda grows. Mine isn't like hairy or anything but it's on my shoulder and I feel extremely embarrassed wearing clothes that are sleeveless. Life sucks D: Ok, so yea. It grows -.- Is it like ok to get a tattoo to cover it up...?
Although areas affected with Becker's Nevus do not have higher malignancy rates than normal skin, I would not tattoo over the area just because it's important to get it checked periodically for abnormalities like skin cancer. I have a few moles on my arms that I have tattooed around, but not over, for the same reasons. If your skin condition makes you self-conscious, you may want to consider looking into laser treatment which could help remove some of the hyperpigmentation of the affected area.
With lasers, I know there are a lot of factors which determine the effectiveness of treatment so definitely talk with a dermatologist or your doctor before spending lots of money on something that may not even make a difference. Anyways, I hope this helped. And I understand why you may feel embarrassed, but I wouldn't even worry about it. Becker's Nevus kind of looks like a birthmark and tons of people have those, including myself. Everyone has flaws and it's not something to be ashamed of. :)
my new tattoos start to peel a little after a couple of days. is it ok to peel the tiny pieces that look like they are about to fall off? thanks for this video. its really helpful.
it's natural for your tattoos to peel but do not peel them yourself - the skin will fall off when it's ready. Even though it's really annoying when pieces of skin are hanging off of you (ew), resist the urge to pick at them. Trust me - I peeled a tattoo on my ankle and now the shading is totally uneven and some of the edges are blurry. It looks like shit.
Aloha, Got a question. I have some large scars that I want to get a tattoo's over. I've done alot of research about this but seem to get mixed answers and no good photos of any... do you have any suggestiions or comments on tattoos over large scars...? thanks -Gember
You can definitely tattoo over scars. The scar must be completely healed though - scars can take up to a year to heal so if you have had the scar for less than 1 year I would wait. If the scar is raised, the tattoo probably will not completely camouflage the scar as it will still be visible from some angles. Also, you should know that tattooing over scar tissue can be more painful depending on the severity of the scarring. The only type of scars that I would not recommend tattooing over are
keloids because they can become irritated and even grow larger. There are a lot of tattoo artists who are highly skilled in covering scars, even large ones, so make sure to go for a consultation and ask your artist what they would recommend to cover the scarring. There are also certain designs and colors that will be able to cover the scar more effectively. Hope this helped!
hey, nice video and everything an di got a question. im (hopefully) going to get my first tattoo on thursday if i can, and i was wondering if this "Tattoo Goo" stuff is alright to use cause my friend got it for me and said its really good. I was just wondering if you have ever tried it or know anyone who has, or has any like...anything to say about it. thanks.
I have never used tattoo goo personally. If you want to use something extra moisturizing at first I would try Aquaphor. You can get it at any drug store and a lot of tattoo artists recommend it. Apply a thin layer a few times a day for the first couple of days. After that, I would use an unscented moisturizer - I have found Lubriderm works best. Be sure to ask the artist who does your tattoo what they recommend though and good luck with your first tattoo!!
thanks for your help lol. i got the tattoo goo stuff today, but when i got for my tattoo tomorrow ill see what the artist says about all of them and see what he likes best. thanks for your help.

good I am glad! The healing process sucks but it is worth it if you love your tattoo

Why does no one ever mention going to sleep with a new tattoo? Do you always cover it for bed? what happens if you catch your tattoo in bed?
GFACE83 2 years ago
to be honest, i usually don't cover mine when i sleep although the down side to that is that it has permanently ruined a few pairs of sheets and a comforter...if you wish to cover it at night, put a thing layer of ointment on your tattoo (aquaphor or a&d will work) and wrap the tattoo in cellophane. If you wrap it like this at night, your tattoo will heal significantly faster (about 4 days) and will not scab.
itsblitzzz 2 years ago
Cool thanks for the reply, I was covering it for the first 2 nights with cellophane but in the morning i was getting a sort or jellified version of the tattoo on top that had to be washed off i was worrying that this was drawing out the ink, is that normal??
GFACE83 2 years ago
lol, yes it is normal for some ink to come out initially and the "jellified" thing you are describing is ink mixed with plasma/blood...yummm. it sounds like you are taking good care of your new tattoo so don't worry!

But I wont be able to wash it that often during the second week, maybe 2 a day, would that be enough?
czupi 2 years ago
You will need to wash it like 2 times a day for the first 4-5 days. After that, once a day will be fine. Over-washing or over-moisturizing your tattoo are both not good, although you do want to make sure you are applying lotion/ointment as necessary so your tattoo doesn't crack or scab. Also, if you plan on being outside a lot during your trip you should cover your tattoo or use sunscreen. It may not be healed enough at that point in time to use sunscreen so covering it may be a better option :)

Thanks a lot :) I'm so excited, I can't wait to finally get it :))

You should do a video showing your tattoos and the meaning behind them. Cause I really cant make out all of the tat u have on ur arm so I wanna see it! lol Thanks! ;D
Lauren55Love 2 years ago
Maybe I will make one, but it would involve me exposing some tattoos that are NOT quality lol....As for my arm, it's not even close to being finished yet but the outline is of an octopus holding a stuffed rabbit in a field of poppy flowers.

Hey. I have a question. Um, I have this skin thing and it's called Becker's Nevus (if you wanna check it out) and... it kinda grows. Mine isn't like hairy or anything but it's on my shoulder and I feel extremely embarrassed wearing clothes that are sleeveless. Life sucks D: Ok, so yea. It grows -.- Is it like ok to get a tattoo to cover it up...?
gbhcr007 2 years ago

my new tattoos start to peel a little after a couple of days. is it ok to peel the tiny pieces that look like they are about to fall off? thanks for this video. its really helpful.
dakidplayboy 2 years ago
it's natural for your tattoos to peel but do not peel them yourself - the skin will fall off when it's ready.

I've done alot of research about this but seem to get mixed answers and no good photos of any... do you have any suggestiions or comments on tattoos over large scars...? thanks -Gember
ps. like ur videos!
GemberOooo 2 years ago
You can definitely tattoo over scars. The scar must be completely healed though - scars can take up to a year to heal so if you have had the scar for less than 1 year I would wait. If the scar is raised, the tattoo probably will not completely camouflage the scar as it will still be visible from some angles. Also, you should know that tattooing over scar tissue can be more painful depending on the severity of the scarring. The only type of scars that I would not recommend tattooing over are
itsblitzzz 2 years ago
keloids because they can become irritated and even grow larger.

I was just wondering if you have ever tried it or know anyone who has, or has any like...anything to say about it. thanks.
smithacraig 2 years ago
