The book is one of my favorites and I agree the realistic, historic 'truth' does not matter. Truth has been worse as anyone could possibly catch in words alone. The story is a universal one and can be translated back to many a life.

But its so vivid and haunting that you feel compelled to keep reading till the end. Kosinski shines a light on the darkest depths of evil and there doesn't seem to be much hope, except for a painted bird soaring through the sky. i might have read an older edition then, because in what i read the kid was a dark skinned gypsy who had to lie and say he was just another polish kid, when everybody knew he was a gypsy.
I read the book in Hebrew, and maybe because it was directed to Jewish readers, the translator changed it to a Jewish boy but in the version I've read, The boy thought that it was better to be gypsy than a Jew but still it wasn't as good as being polish (white skinned and blond). At the end of the book, he gets reunited with his parents who were educated. Without being racist, I don't think gypsies were people who integrated the big cities population. the considered to be a vagabond people.
I think the book is ambiguous about whether or not the boy is a Gypsy or a Jew. Ultimately I don't think it matters that much, the point is that he is an outcast, the painted bird being torn apart by the other birds. He is constantly the victim of ignorance and superstition, and I think this is Kosinski's way of showing the mindset of those who committed the Holocaust

I uses flash because it's easy to make frame by frame animations. Are you a student to?
Yes, I'm a student at The Art institute of Pittsburgh- located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania of the United States. I like it alot, I just recently had a flash class, it's really easy to use and I like it alot. I should submitt some of my flash animations sometime.
