  • I own the game and I do wish there was some combat.... It's a bit difficult to control on the wii too.... I love the puzzles and the mystery... I'm still working on the game but overall, I LOVE IT! XD

  • And what's the second track is playing? How is it called? Who performs it (playing)?

  • its the 28 weeks later theme by John Murphy

  • А что за вторая композиция играет? откуда она?

  • Game is too short and it seems more like a point and click game to me.

  • lol! there is no combat but thats cool imagine left 4 dead with no weapons! u try to run out of the zombies :P

  • This game was meant to be survival horror. Not action horror. The reason they took combat out is so you dont feel empowered. Its supposed to be like a nightmare- Nothing to fight with, running for your life. Only you, A flashlight, and a cellphone. Thats it. They wanted to make thi survival horror in order for it to be even scarier. Thats the reason they took combat out. In my opinion, this game deserves a 5/5, 10 out of 10.

  • Silent Hill Homecomeing Had alot of action and alot less puzzle solveing then the others so im gessing thay are makeing this one unblanced like homecomeing but in puzzles and not in action, but still its gona be good cos its Silen Hill

  • waiting on this game for ps2,name music with 0:33 sekund start ?

  • its the 28 weeks later theme.

  • I agree that removing combat makes a game more scary and isn't that bad of an idea for a silent hill game, but did they have to make it a "re-imaging" of the original silent hill? Couldn't they have made a new game with a character more of a wuss than harry? maybe like... an ice cream truck driver or something.

  • 0:38 Fuck yeah, nice titays.

  • I don't understand how the creators say that they're making it realistic. Let's say that if you can't find a any gun of some sort, how about a melee weapon like a bat, pipe, a stick, etc. I mean we're talking about a parent desperately searching for his daughter. Of course there's gonna be some aggression. Bad move in my opinion aside from the whole remake, which by the way is synonymous for re-imagining. I would be less upset if they stop using the cast from part 1 and name them something else.

  • i actually think that removing the combat was a great move

not being able to fight enemies will make the game really scary

i also heard that the running away segments are very smooth, like mirrors edge

  • i agree, most games involve some fighting but in my experiance having to run from an oppresive amount of baddys is horrifying, seeing as theres the fear that one is behind you and plans to attach its claw thing to ur neck. this if far more terrifying then beating the things sensless.

  • i think what weve seen so far in the teaser is that the point of silent hill is to scare you, its not the first time a game starts you without a weapon and you meet monsters i think the teaser, and the game play footage only showed the first 10-15 mins, the teaser was mainly showing the evasion side of SH as that was a big part of it originally.

  • Maybe there's a reason why you can't fight or kill the monsters?

If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. If you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

  • Now I don't care about the rest of the SAME old comments, I already know all about SH:SM. Just don't get defensive nor angry. It is only your own selves. I am always usually neutral and laugh.

I'm not trying to be offensive at all, but it's getting to a point that I don't like. So lets stop this.

So to answer your question, there is no real reason that could be put into story that is no more then another Climax adding that they can't handle specific flare light for no reason at all.

  • I think the lack of combat, could make it a whole lot more suspensfull. Like Penumbra 2.

  • It's a nice idea, but it's only making it more thrilling in that other typical monster movie sense.

People of the past say it should be all about that, but what about the silence and the trip you get, like Jaccob's Ladder? That's what it's all about.

Not..."o, me running from monster that want to kill or eat me". Only a rush from the constant running, nothing more.

I know screwed up on the history in origins. TranslatedMemories shows how works and everything.

  • So, i'm not against the no combat and if it were NEW FOR REAL, a sequel made by team silent for real, then I could grasp it.

Trying something new is not at issue here, we all say this and YES to new.

I could accept this as a sequel done by Team Silent, the ice realm representing something, but this REPLACES SH1 and claims it's better. It is on a technical stand point here and there, like Poseidon vs Poseidon adventure, but i'd rather play it then this.

  • I did not say that you were complaining and I only mentioned Jacob's Ladder because you did first. I was trying to open up a discussion about why the game creators took out the fighting aspect of the game and if it was to enhance the story and the experience of playing on the Wii and using the wiimote as a weapon. I didn't know that you were so sensitive or I wouldnt have bothered.

  • I said "as if", so I never meant that you were claiming this. It's that you bring up a lack of weapons subject, which I don't want to hear about anymore.

If you negative those comments then none of you know anything and are still baised from hype for this thing, but it doesn't push anything. You wont stop being a fanboy franchise follower to realise it's only slightly different in the monster part from the original, my experience in the devision of gameplay WILL be the same.

  • Let me revise that. Again, the experience will be of the same logic. You run from monsters as always, optionally using weapons as apart of realistic environmentalism to defend yourself.

You may not even need to hide yourself with with those flares.

Right now i'm nuetral, the game may be fun too, like SH1. But they all still messed everything up to a point, not starting with this game and just "wah" combat like idiots think. Don't say anything if you don't know the deeper part of it.

  • Nope, your only getting defensive, again, a franchise follower ep 1 retard is a fanboy. Not someone who would hold back due to wrong choices and know alittle something. K.

I hate Climax because they didn't do another SH2 but tried to go into the story of SH's origins. Origins explained nothing more and reprinted a few things. In other words, there is no point for it at all. It's not worthy to be put into the official facts as it's their addin on a lack of knowing, it needed to be another SH2.

  • StarWars ep1 in more detail.

  • Anyone who wants Silent Hill 2 to be imitated should not AT FUCKING ALL being calling anyone a retard fanboy. Silent Hill 2 was considered mediocre until a bunch of posers started reading the plot analyses and didn't shut up about how "psychological" it was because they think it makes them look smart. It doesn't. You people never shut up about "symbolism", yet if I asked you to point out the obvious sexual imagery related to Angela, you'd have no clue what I was talking about.

    -Tabris

  • If you think SH2 is being imitated for SH's nature to continue then there is something wrong with you. Sh2 is not imitated, this is the THEME of Silent Hill.

This makes it like FF where each story is NEW and has it's own look. This isn't a sequel mind you.

WTF!?!?!!? Of course I know about Angela's sexual imagery! It's so easy, her dad abused her. why is it so hard to get abstract daddy and the real info?

Never take me as those other also, please. I always get annoyed by them also.

  • There is no point for that JL referance also. STOP acting like i'm sensitive and REALISE that this is NOT a sequel being mocked for being different. No one is ignorant but your own retarded selfs.

You are the sensitive ones as you negitive comments filled with FACT and you cannot handle it.

  • I agree that Climax shouldn't make a RE on GC style remake, but listen, I know where your getting at.

I can accept this. But you realize that it DOES work this way without protest, they are done with THAT SH in the media and you can only play the PS1 game.

Also, this other term can be interpreted as the same thing. Remakes with different director visions have always been different in film. It CAN mean the same thing as the basic story IS the same!

Psycho? Not like I play SH all day.

  • That's okay guy I understand where your coming from too and I think you misunderstood my question. I just saw your name and that you mentioned Silence of the Lambs and Jacob's Ladder and I wanted your to hear more of your opinions on those movies and the new SH which is why I said maybe. I was really surprised when you came at me with both guns blazin' but it's all good. I'm not mad or anything.

  • Ok sorry i got this thinking you as ignorant, your a good person. I want to make a serious video explaining silent hill soon as I HATE comments. They cause me problems.

Don't listen to my previous comments as I got this last. k? Sorry bout all this.

  • That video sounds cool. Send me a link to it when you've got it finished because I'd love to check it out. And for what it's worth I'm sorry too. I should have been a little more clear about what I was asking.

  • K, thank you. I will. : 3

  • the whole idea of not being able to fight any monsters does make silent hill all the more scarier

  • are you outa your mind who wants to play a horror game with monsters and not being able to kill i am a loyal silent hill player but this is gonna suck who the fuck wants to play a puzzle solving game with monsters you cnt kill if a combat system was combined with puzzle solving now that would be the best game ever

  • I was skeptical about the lack of combat, but damned if the trailer didn't make it look good! I thought they'd screw it up, but...wow! It actually looks pretty intense.

    -Tabris

  • i agree, i think the game could still be good, but i'm still a bit skeptical about the lack of combat. Still looks creepy as hell

  • If the monsters only appear in the shadow world, wouldn't it give everyone a sense of invulnerability when they're doing puzzles in the real world?

  • I heard that you won't be able to pause the game, so it will feel more horrifying instead of feeling like you're playing a game. So you'd best not get distracted and pay attention to your surroundings when you're solving a puzzle. XD

I hope the game gives you some sort of self-defense against the monsters besides having to hide and evade them, though I totally understand why there be wouldn't be combat. The main point is to survive and find your daughter-- like if it was real life.

  • the game is a survival Horror game, I like my combat, but harry couldnt even use a steel pipe right, so removing the combat doesnt make the game any less cool, and Harry couldnt use a gun any better. Hes a father with no experience in fighting demons, so remove the combat.

  • thats a good point. Harry is a lot different than alex. Harry is a father while alex is a soldier. Having lots of combat in homecoming was an obvious choice. but i suppose harry probably is the type of guy who wouldn't be used to fighting.

  • You actually play Silent Hill 1? Harry swung pipes like a normal person. The combat was perfectly fine. James, on the other hand, felt the need to JAB enemies with his damned pipe! Silent Hill 2, not 1, had a broken-ass melee system.

    -Tabris

  • Did u fight the dogs with the pipe. that sucked. bad.

  • Are those the only monsters on the game?

  • not sure.

  • The developers said that they will change because of what will you do

  • Darkness is kind of a staple of Silent Hill games, but overdoing it can be really annoying.

I'm kind of nervous about the removal of combat as well, but I think somewhere they said that there would be "little combat", not that they are removing it entirely. To be honest, I think it is a better alternative than too much combat, like Homecoming had. The original Silent Hills were more about running and only fighting when it was absolutely necessary.

  • If monsters have better AI and they are harder to chase of, do we really have time for doing puzzles and investigating places more in depth? That's what I fear.

Also, the game looks too dark! Okay, we have a great upgraded flashlight, but still. Darkness isn't scary or anything, it's just plain annoying.

Anyhow, I'm glad that Harry has learned to run better than an average bear.

  • your comment about the darkness is right on. That's what screwed up homecoming

  • Well, there's the creepy atmosphere & also puzzles. Its half way to a great survival horror game. Something Resident Evil 5 forgot to create. There will be those classical and freak creatures, awesome. But no combat? That's weird! Unless the puzzles allow us to evade/kill them. At least there will be flares to make them away from us. And what's the point of taking pictures? Something like Fatal Frame? I've never ever was disapointed with a Silent Hill game, so I have high hopes for this one.

  • they said that the pictures will be used for puzzles

so im guessing that you'll do stuff like take a picture of a number, and then later you will use that number to unlock something

  • Well, the creepy atmosphere is there and that's a good point. Half way to a great survival horror game. There will be puzzles, thank god. Isn't Resident Evil 5 so stupid without this 2 main important subjects in a survival horror game? Honestly, I'm sad its not a remake, and more sad its not coming out for 360 and PS3. What's the point of taking pictures? There will be those classical Silent Hill creatures, but can't we kill them? Its weird! Unless the puzzles make us evade the creatures.

  • you could get it on the ps2 though right?

  • I love the fact that this game does not have combat! This is truly survival horror, not any of that action horror stuff. What better way to get scared when the only thing you can do is run? And don't forget the high replayability of this game. You could play the game 5 times through, and it'd be different every time you do. Like if you stare at a lot of posters of hot woman, that police woman will be hotter, and the enemies will have creepy feminine attributes.

  • Or, if you tell the psychiatrist that you drink a lot, and had cheated on someone, then the police woman will be more hostile to you, and change the who course of how you go through the story. It really seems like a lot of fun, because there are a ton of different ways to play the game.

  • that's a good point. That could make the game more creepy. Hopefully you're right. I havent played a normal survival horror game for a while. I've been used to resident evil 5 (if you could even put it in that genre) the alone in the dark reboot, And silent hill homecoming.

Lets hope that this game has some good endings and i want a really funny UFO ending. Homecoming's Ufo ending was kinda funny. Origins had a really funny ufo ending.

  • Although, I am with you a bit on the combat side. I mean, we don't have to kill the monsters, but just be able to fend them off. But I still think even with the absence of any fighting elements, the game will be good.
