Sorry to troll. But Super Mario 2 was not original. Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels was the actuall sequel and WAS the actuall sequel in Japan, but Nintendo thought it wouldn't sell in America so they took an already made game called Doki Doki Panic, and put Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach as replacement characters.

I was told that Mario 2 was a whole different game in the sense that it wasn't even a Mario game in japan. So to make it sell they changed some things around and called it Mario 2 and sold it here to make money.

SMB2 is actually not the actual SMB2. Although it is in America, the actual second is Super Mario Bros, Lost levels.

In Japan, Lost Levels was SMB2, but Americans found it too hard, so Nintendo basically resprited Doki Doki Panic into the 'fake' SMB2.
