If anybody watching this is affiliated with Nashville "country" music, please see the crowd reaction at 2:45. Contrary to the opinion by some, country fans still want the pedal steel guitar and fiddle in the music that is produced currently. See Texas music if you have any questions. I would love to be able to cancel my satellite radio again.
This was NOT a good representation of Merle Haggard's guitar picking ability, he was WAY out of tune in this entire CD. He is an absolutely fantastic guitar player. Check out some other youtube clips to see this is an abberation.
That's Roy nichols in the chair , his original guitarist, Bif Adams - original drummer, and Norman Hamlet - original slide steel guitar player. Merle Haggard and The Strangers! Hell yeah!
@GinsingSullivan Not my favorite Hag tune but my favorite Hag recording.Larry Londin on drums and especially Reggie Young's guitar(fantastic). The sax is great too.I don't like Merles's guitar playing but I guess he plays lead 'cause of Willie.I don't like Willie's playin' most of the time either.Especially when the too loud nylon strings come out distorting thru the PA system!
get high on weed and enjoy the music and life that much better .... You dont stop partying because you get old .. you get old because you stop PARTYING
What in the world is wrong with both Merle and Norm Stevens in this vid? Neither of them are playing anywhere CLOSE to their usual abilities, they can barely hit the high notes at all, and both Merle and Norm are such good Tele players it's a shame. Norm seems to fair a bit better here. RIP to him.
Norm is so damned old in this gig, I don't see how he does as well as he does. Gotta love the video anyway! Not anything better than Merle and the Strangers....
helll yea
