@thobumbi Ultimecia was compressing time. She had basically succeeded. The words that are passing by in the first part of the intro were spoken by Squall to Rinoa. Dr Odine explained that only through a powerful connection to each other could they hope to survive the time compression event. Squall told Rinoa this so they would be able to meet up, after all this happend.

Rinoa does not turn into Ultimecia. Ultimecia gave her sorceress powers to Edea, and Edea and Adel gave their poewrs to Rinoa.

I need saves before the last fight on the 2 disc...I had 4 characters with 100 levels..gf's with I can remember well but around 100 levels too. @tubenachos agreed. when I started ff I was playing the super nintendo games part 2 (actually IV) and part 3 (part VI). VI was the best by far. It was epic. But VIII remains my personal favorite. I never could get into part VII, but that seems to be everyone's first and favorite final fantasy. maybe I'm too old school for part VII.

Such a good intro. Personally Final Fantasy IV and IX are the two best FF's in my opinion but Final Fantasy VIII was the first game I got in the series. Made such an impression on me that I'm still catching up on the older games in the series (FF II and V still not finished) and the ones after (FF X and X-2, finished FF XII, waiting on XIII and later). Might even try FF XI.

Make sure you play Final Fantasy VI. I'm still waiting for them to remake this so I have an excuse to play it again. Some of the best characters in any Final Fantasy game ever. It's know as Final Fantasy III in the states if that helps you :D

@1985dende I have been playign the series since the first. I played all the US releases, then I went and got ROMs of the japanese only games. This game is still in a very close second, after FF6. VERY close. As in, its a position I regularly reconsider. Were it not for the rather tedious Draw system, this game would be my ultimate favorite. But Photo-finish for 2nd place is still really good in my opinion.

9 is tied with 4 as my second fave in the series. I thought 10 was good, but overrated. I have some good memories of San D'oria and FF XI, but it sucked away too much time. 12 was prob the most boring and the most non-sensical of the series. 13 followed the boring trend. Admittedly have not played 14, but from what I gather, I'm not missing much.

@yourreveiws Pretty much every game is set in its own world, with no connection to the storylines of previous or future games(though they sometimes make direct sequels). This lets new fans pick pretty much any entry they want and play it.

At the risk of sounding overly-nostalgic, I'd recommend not bothering with the series after 12. Or possibly even after 9 or 10. It's gone straight to hell since then. :(

An amazing thing about final fantasy 8 is that it immerses you in its world to the extent where you would say something like " Man, how awesome would it be to be a part of that world".

But the most amazing thing about games like final fantasy is that they make you realise that you are part of a world full of adventure, tears, despair, hope and laughter and that you too are playing out your own unique story.

He's badass, true, and a lot of the female fanbase think that he's really cute/sexy/whatever (I'm a guy; I couldn't say), but a lot of people (not speaking to you, or anyone in particular) seem to forget the whole "Omnicidal Maniac" part of his character.

@evilprius616 Interesting point, but the scars were not really about Squall and Seifer "hurting" each other, but rather setting up from the very beginning that the two are "rivals". I mean come on, they both use gunblades. They both are very independent. Squall has a short black jacket, while Seifer's is long and white. The actual scars are even in opposite directions (mirrored), almost as if to show a good/evil correlation. Sometimes, you have to look beneath the surface, bro..
