  • Wait Can Some One Explain what " The Flaming Pie " is ?

  • Flaming Pie! ... I get ot now!

  • Off course The Beetles name came from that movie mate.

  • this is history

  • Notice the guy points to the girls and says the Beetles miss you all the beetles miss you as to say" the bitches missed you Johnny." Because American Biker slang a Beetle is a female ho that hangs with Bikers. I think the actors knew about Biker culture when they told him biker gang was called the Beetles.

  • If you read "John" By Cynthia Lennon, she said what John said, except for the flaming pie crap. She said that they were looking for a name and John came up with "Beatles" because turned backwards it was "Les Beat" (pronounced 'lay') and it sounded French and cool.

  • Lennon originally thought of the following names, but he knew that they would never work commercially, or get past the censors (he was so far ahead of his time): 1) The Right Fucks. 2) The Cocksmen. 3) The Strummin' Cummers. 4) The Stiff Propositions.

  • 0:23 pause the video and look 3 spaces below the red line on the left side. SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THAT SAYS ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!

  • @something1963

It (almost) says "mighty rock," but the i is missing.

  • THE MAN ON THE FLAMING PIE!!! Awwwww, Paul always will always love John :')

  • The Anthology sort of reminded Paul of his better work and this interview actually inspired the album name, Flaming Pie.

  • they were actually called johnny and the silver beatles for a while. then just the silver beatles and then the beatles. lol makes me laugh so hard when he says 'man on a flaming pie'! such a legend i love john lennon!!

  • @iGoshiix No, not Silver Beatles, Silver Beetles.

  • @BlueVansCapofAwesome thank you for the correction!

  • @iGoshiix Heh, that's ok! ^^

  • John most likely got this from the Crickets. J.I. Allison searches through an encyclopedia under "Insects" in order to find a name for the band. They consider briefly, then discard "The Beetles" before selecting "The Crickets". Over the next month, the band members of The Crickets come together: Buddy Holly, vocals and lead guitar; J.I. Allison, drums; Joe B. Mauldin, bass; and Niki Sullivan, rhythm guitar. (Niki will leave the band in December at the end of the Biggest Show of Stars for 1957.)

  • So then Lee Marvin was the Fifth Beatle?

  • @BobBerkeley No! Billy Preston (Piano Player) was on a session on the Abbey Road Album.

  • niceee :3

  • I wanna be born in the '40's SOOOO bad!

  • @jasonaldeanqueen24 I WAS BOR IN THE 60'S

  • Where can I read the actual Mersey Beat article? I paused the video and read part of it and it was actually pretty funny :)

  • @stephkills Um, well I read it in the book by Hunter Davies called "The Beatles" - if you haven't already got it, buy it, cos it's all about the bealtes and they really are amazing guys :)

  • @Beatlemania196 Awesome thanks :D

  • George looks really cute here:)

  • @theemmers15 hes really cute everywhere

  • LIAR!

jk but seriously we all know how it really happened

  • John and George, buddies and pals :) dear beloved boys

  • In the biker club the Beetles were, the girls.

  • John never mentioned the film so the film clip is added from someone that has a theory he got the name from the film but he explains it came from Buddy Holly & the Crickets & Beat music

  • Great video. Weird comments, so I'll add to that. If you like this, check out Stevie Riks' "The Beatles..There story in 10 minutes."

  • @franzy1

thats not fully true it cpuldnt of started with ringo because they were called the silver beatles before ringo was in the band, and pete best was the drummer

  • They must be Beatles, cause they'll never die. . .

The Beatles ''nombre q pasaría a la historia''

  • ummm about the end? what the heck?!

  • ok cool

  • LMFAO HIS PICTURES. xD

  • John is so awesome ^_^

  • lol a flaming pie suuure john

  • whats with the end

  • The film clip came from "The Wild One" with Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin, released in 1953.

  • oh thanks

  • @jagatinho the say Beatles so ^^

  • @jagatinho I do not get it. What was the point of including that clip at the end? Because they mentioned "all the beetles missed u, Johnny" or what?

  • @bonitodia1 i didn't put it there. it's From Beatles Anthology DVD. you should ask the producers :)

  • @bonitodia1

Because john took the name 'beetles' from that movie, then he changed it to beatles. Apparently there are many versions about how he came up with that name

  • @iLoveYoutuveVideos OK, thank u 4 your feedback :D

  • @celesteknoles There's a story that Stu Sutcliff really liked the movie "The Wild One" and suggested the name Beetles to John, sort of as an answer to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. John changed the spelling to Beatles since they were a "beat" group. It was originally The Silver Beatles, but Silver was later dropped.

  • @celesteknoles I have no clue...

  • In Cynthia Lennon's book, John, she says John was thinking of insects. He came up with the name The Beatles, since if you spelled it a certain way it would be Les Beat. He liked how it sounded French.

  • Man on a flaming pie. *lol*

    John is so cute.

  • how weird flaming pie is one of pauls songs from 1997

  • Haha.

...I prefer the man-in-the-flaming-pie story. XD

  • The film clip came from "The Wild One" with Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin, released in 1953. Wikipedia says it was banned in the UK until 1968.

  • How did the Beatles get to see it, if it was banned?

  • @jagatinho They didn't know about the movie, it was just a coincidence. They saw the movie after they thought of the name.

    Hope that helped :)

  • @jagatinho Who said the Beatles saw it?

  • @alltaken678 : I don't know. I was just asking.

  • From Wendel's third natural dictionary: Beat/le (noun) 1. a scruffy randy scouse git 2. (verb) to fornicate

  • The word Beatle is Sanskrit for "eiroieo" which is Welsh for owrfwe which is Viking for Dog. Loosely translated, of course.

  • the story goes: John was a big Buddy Holly fan cuz it reminded him of Billy Holiday. They briefly went by the name Holiday Inns but caught flack from the Ramada Inn people. So they called themselves the Crickets but that was taken. Then Ringo made the association with Cricket Lighters, lighters to flames, flames to the Sun, the Sun to newspaper, newspaper to moveable type, type casting to fly casting, flies to Beetles...but John was a lousy speller. It's all true.

  • The Flaming Pies sound like an awesome name. =)

  • "The Wild One"

  • whats the movie at the end?

  • The whole "flaming pie" comment was something that some friends of the band decided that John should say to spice things up if someone asked where they go the name "The Beatles"

  • Didn't Paul name an album after that story, called "Flaming Pie"

Because that doesn't seem like a happy coincidence

  • flaming pie is a ufo

  • You're retarded.

  • that ending was cool if you listion to it and truly pay attention then you'll get it

  • Duh!

  • Beetles were the names for the certain type of girls they were hanging out with in that movie...i forget which one it is, but i read that in the "Anthology" book i think

  • I loved the Beetle juice cartoons as a kid, so whenever I think of the beatles I think of the cartoon lol

  • Buddy Holly and The Crickets....thay loved this band....so they picked another insect....Beetle...and changet to Beatles, because of beat music, or Merseybeat...it's a pun....but I like the flamming pie version too! hehehe

  • that's weird, I read the beatles biography it says their German friend came up with the name. But if john has a dream about a flaming pie then ok lol, that's john for ya.

  • john is a legend

  • Only John would have a vision of a man on a flaming pie...haha

    This is great. :D

  • Paul Mccartney has a great album called Flaming Pie that was named after John's dream.

  • john lennon is so inspurational. we can all learn alot from that man, hero

  • flaming pie?

  • what's that bit at the end???

  • lol.. thats all i can say.. lol

  • Oh i do love George..

  • haha!!! John is such a imaginative lad.

  • the beatles missed ya OH THE BEATLES MISSED YA

  • lol random dream of john ^-^

  • lol. thats so like teens to be thinking of crawly things for the name of their band.

  • a pie...with an "A"

  • Dude. What is THAT CLIP AT THE END????? ALL 'THE BEATLES' MISSING JOHNNY, WHO LOOKS LIKE A TEDDY BOY? I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THIS MOVIE IS PRONTO!

  • I think the movie's title is "The Wild One".

  • actually it's called "On the Waterfront"

  • Nevermind you're right.

  • cool. george is brilliant.
