Thank-you so much for showing differences in yarn, and thanks for the heads up on the light stuff that looked heavy duty. I use red heart too, Its easy to work with, Im on the last arm of an xxl cable sweater for hubby, and dreaming of making me a nice sweater thats why I wanted to see the differences. Thanks so much happy knitting/crocheting:)
I appreciate your tutorials so very much. I have been able to re-teach myself a lot of stuff such as how to crochet right handed (I learned from someone who is left handed) and so much more. I did however have one question about yarn for you. Is there any way to tell what gauge yarn you have without a label?
@cheza29 You can work out a swatch. After having some experience, you can approximate the gauges by feel & look, the same way an experienced cook can measure ingredients without a measuring spoon.
I have been sitting here watching your vids, "basic tut" with needle and 5oz bulk of yard ready to go. For my first purchase I brought Carson Simply Soft, yarn, do you recommend? Cant wait to make first project. Thank you so much.

@MissLeigh78 Baby yarn can be any yarn manufactured for baby products. Some people inter change it with sport weight (#3) yarn or lighter. I have a #6 bulky yarn called Baby Clouds and i also have #2 fingering weight yarn that is considered a baby yarn.
It's an addiction. I have a problem! I don't know if I never bought another skein of yarn that I could use up all i have! I think I'll have to do another contest soon and give away some of my stash! Shh! It's a secret! LOL!
Hi Beth, my message got cut off. What I wanted to say was, WOW, where did you get the RAYON crochet thread from? I haven't seen it since the 1980's. I crochet alot of doll clothing for fashion dolls, and feel the rayon would give such an elegant touch/feel to the clothing.
Also I was curious, how do you STORE your threads and yarns? I store everything in vacum/zip lock bags to protect against dust and moths. Plastic storage containers still get dust inside and have holes so moths can get in.
Oh! LOL! I store some in the open air, others in pretzel jars that I got at Costco, still more is in plastic bags. The problem with plastic bags is that condensation can cause the yarn to mildew.
The rayon is something I got at a thrift store and is likely from the 80's. Lily is now Elmore Pisgah. You can Google search for Rayon Crochet thread to find sellers. I know Shady Lane has some.

@MegaGabyLOL You can learn with it, but it is smaller, so it may be more difficult to see the stitches.
