  • Krugman's flippant denunciation of anyone who worries about government debt and spending was thrown back into his face when our bond rating was downgraded, and will continue to get thrown back in his face as our debt and cost of borrowing further escalates. Remember, this is a man who thinks the problems of Greece--Greece!--are its austerity, rather than its rampant entitlement state.

  • Krugman is very sensible -- Brooks is an apologist for the insane Republican ideology that caused the financial meltdown.

  • Its funny cause we got downgraded after he 'predicts' this. No one ever calls this idiot out of on his false claims.

  • @orduck23 As rating agencies said, downgrade occurred in large part due to the failure of congress to agree efficiently on debt ceiling, so he's actually not wrong.

  • Krugman is a moron

  • We don't have a public debt problem.

  • paul krugman is an insane leftist, if who is left to power, will destroy the united states and the world without question. the man is physiologically off balance. PAUL KRUGMAN will destroy the country... i just hope we all can understand that before himself and his cohorts actually complete their objective!

  • Krugman has a great intellectual personality...

  • @wreddon stop bitching about percieved bias and worry about if what people say is provable fact or not.

  • Brooks still reflexively defends the Neocons and what they pushed for 2002-2007.

  • What Krugman explained in the first 20 seconds turned out to be the reason the S&P downgraded the US credit rating. Even David Brooks agreed. People are putting blame on the wrong people ... the simple fact is that our rating was downgraded b/c the republicans used this situation for their own political gains.

  • Krugman loves money, as long as it is not his. He truly believes that he is an economist sent from space to save the world...HAHAHAHAA

Keynesian books should be moved from the economics section to the science fiction section...

  • I just can't believe that a man with such poor knowledge of fundamental economic can be a Nobel laureate or an economic adviser.

  • @D503z That just goes to show how much credibility we should give the NP.

  • Paul Krugman, you are a douche bag. It's sad that innocent people die everyday from car wrecks and other acts beyond their control, yet you go on spewing senseless bullshit from your self-serving maw. Fuck You!

  • For the record, I hope the liberals win and implement every single policy they want. I want them to destroy themselves. The world needs to learn that that system ultimately and inevitably fails, ending in bankruptcy and chaos. Greece isn't big enough to prove that. We need it to happen to the USA, so all of humanity learns forever that Keynesianism always fails. There can be no mix of Capitalism and Socialism. And only Capitalism is viable.

  • Krugman is an economist like Al Gore is a scientist. He's a fucking shill for the DNC and liberals the world around. He wants nothing more than control over what he has no right to. Keynesianism ALWAYS ends in bankruptcy. You can't borrow forever, and nobody ever wants to pay the debt. It just keeps increasing until the over-extended economy collapses under its own debt. It's that fucking simple Paul.

  • Wrong on the downgrade, right on it being baseless.

  • Well, he was wrong about them downgrading our credit.

  • @wreddon Great comment.

  • Krugman has always been right in his analysis and forecasts

  • @optionsupdate He predicted the housing crisis in 2005

  • @optionsupdate

Krugman has always been a kook who thinks we should just keep on spending.

  • @optionsupdate Except for at 2:50 ...

  • @optionsupdate Krugman is an idiot..and the only bigger idiot then he is the idiot that follows him.

  • Krugman always says the exact same thing. All he ever says is "Conservatives bad, Liberals good." Keynesian economists are full of shit.

  • @brad238899 if that is all you hear, then you must hear voices in your head.

  • @unclexbob I've been reading & watching Krugman for years and that's his thing actually. That's what he started with actually. I believe he had an article yesterday or the day before called something like "Why radical conservatives are ruining everything." So yes I do have voices in my head. They're called observation & reality.

  • @brad238899 I think his argument is slightly more nuanced that "my team good!" He actually has logical arguments in there, heaven forbid, even some math!

  • @unclexbob real logic is that the US does keep borrowing, it one day won't matter what the "debt ceiling" is the rest of the world won't buy the toilet paper treasuries and the Fed will have to keep printing, sorry "quantitatively easing", the dollars to cover the gap. Krugman of course has said on many occasions he has no issue with the Fed buying the bonds the treasury issues.
