@guitarkiller1965 It's Drop C. A whole step down then drop the what is now D to a C. System of a Down also used this tuning on the albums before mezmerize. It's essentially drop D but a full step down

@GuitarGod4100...I agree with you 110% on the pinch harmonics being a staple of Uncle Zakk's playing. The only song I really think its overdone is Doomsday Jesus off Blessed Hellride. But its still sick though.

I don't get why people complain about him doing too many pitch harmonics. He does them all in the right places of songs. Sure, he sometimes gets carried away, but it still sounds good. Telling Zakk Wylde to not use them is like telling Eddie Van Halen not to use the tapping technique. It's part of their sounds.

I totally agree with zakk about the riffing. So many bands these days try to make them so difficult and forget that the most important thing is that its got rhythm and melody. Not many people give a crap if its the most technical riff with sweep picking and shredding scales. If you want that you listen to stevie Via or Paul Gilbert

I'd say it's more of these random young metal groups that think every verse has to have a whack ass time signature and be as random as possible to sound good. They don't focus on the simplicity and structure of song writing. Gotta love the meat n' potata's every now and then :P

Zakk plays in D Standard for all his stuff so when he drops the E string down a step he's dropping it down to C. Use your ears, its clearly in Drop C.

Actually, the tuning is stilled "Drop D" (full step down) because your tuning down to your D string. I dont care how downtuned all ur strings are, whenever u downtune the low E to the D string its Drop D, even if your not in the Key of D.
