You don't think it's already here? Imelda May from Ireland, The Vanishers in canada, Legendary Shack Shakers in the US, Devil Doll, Horrorpops and Volbeat all use Rockabilly and slap bass. It never went away man
You talk about them wearing eyeliner but consider Elvis did the same exact thing in the 1950`s. Not only eyeliner but eyeshadow. He use to freak out Johnny Cash with that. Talk about balls right? Elvis will always be the first punk rocker. The dude use to do dance moves that he saw strippers doing, and this was in the 1950`s!
This is the clip was taken from the "Fridays" show. I had just returned from the UK where I was introduced to the Cats. I watched this while recording it on a very early VHS recorder. My copy is very poor so it is great to see this one.
I agree with mikey, seen them at Leeds everytime they've come and once in London. Wish it could have been many more. They were, and still are, one of the biggest influences of my life. Takes me back to the 80's, when I was a mere 14 year old... I still remember playing Rock this Town '45' for the first time! Thank God for youtube...
My absolute favorite time of life in the world. The only reason I don't feel cheated that I didn't grow up in the fifties is because brian Setzer came around in the 80's. I am SOOOO priveledged
thats some cool rocking. Around this time (81) I was heavy into Ac/dc,Rush,Nugent,Van Halen..etc...that is until I saw the Stray Cats on American Bandstand around Xmas...I was floored...changed my way of dress and look and rock n roll. Go Daddy O!
Yeh, mid-late 70's Punk Rock seemed to slowly change, untill we had the Rockabilly revival here in the UK in 1980.. Even the Sex Pistols covered Eddie Cochran's "Something Else"
Remember watching this when it first aired, saw them at the Aragon in Chicago for only 8 bucks, one of the best concerts i ever went to!

I wish this was actually live. It's a rig...
Look at the drummer at 00:17, he's not playing live. And they're so drunk / stoned they can't stand up straight at the end.
Doesn't change the fact that it's an awesome song though.

It's werid. They completely started the neo-rockabilly and help create the psychobilly scenes. If you really think about that its crazy.
